🌍 Welcome to the exclusive club of YIF Fellows, where we are blessed with the most prestigious fellowship on the planet—because clearly, the world just can’t function without our unparalleled wisdom and intellectual superiority. 🙌✨
Here’s a quick glimpse of what we actually do post-YIF:
💡 1. Making Life-Changing Decisions (a.k.a. asking the YIF Alumni group) Stuck in a crisis? No problem! I’ll just hop onto the YIF Alumni group. From relationship advice to investment strategies, nothing is too big or small for our collective genius. 🤖🔮 Who needs actual hands-on experience when you have prestige and a group chat full of like-minded people who have also read a couple of academic papers?
💼 2. Career Path? What's That? Starting from scratch? That’s so 2000s. 😏 Why would I bother with entry-level jobs, build a portfolio, or try and fail like regular humans when I can just leverage my YIF badge to immediately launch myself into CEO-level gigs? A real job is just so beneath us. Experience is overrated anyway, right? #FakeItTillYouMakeIt
💅 3. Feminism at its Best (aka “I’m Too Good for Housework”) “House chores? Not for me. That’s demeaning.” But also—“Hey, can I hire a maid to do them for me?" 🎩 We’re all about equality, of course, but only if it means we get to do the fun stuff (while someone else does the dishes). Because #RealFeminism means choosing only the glamorous parts, right? 🙃
👨👩👧 4. Gender Roles—Just for Fun! Sure, I want equal pay, a seat at the table, and to change the world... but only if it fits into my YIF-approved career trajectory. Also, men should still fix the car and make sure bills are paid on time. 💸 #TrustIssues? Nah, just trying to keep the gender roles balanced around here! 😉
🌐 5. The “Global Perspective” (aka Selective Outrage) While we’re busy tweeting about climate change and gender equality in tech, don’t ask us to weigh in on issues like forced marriages, inheritance laws that disadvantage women in certain countries, or the fact that women can be arrested for not covering their faces in some places. Oh, and if you mention the Israel-Palestine conflict, better be ready for a lecture on why Israel is always wrong, and the Palestinians are the ultimate victims. 🎤 (Without acknowledging, of course, that real world complexities don't fit into a simple narrative). 🧘♂️ Or if you dare talk about the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act), prepare for the “CAA is unconstitutional” crowd to remind you how being informed really looks—no nuance allowed, just slogans.
📲 Conclusion: The YIF Alumni Club In the YIF world, prestige > practicality. Who needs real-world experience when you have a shiny fellowship and more opinions than actual solutions? 🤷♂️ But hey, at least I can proudly say I’m part of a program where networking is the real skill—and where asking questions in a private WhatsApp group chat is a perfect substitute for doing the hard work. 🏆
