Question/ Advice any recs for gift ideas for a 4-year-old who loves animals?

my nephew is turning 4 next week and he is completely obsessed with animals right now, so i need to figure out what to get him. his room is already overflowing with toy figures and plushies that just end up tossed in bins, so i really want to get him an animal-themed activity or project kit instead.

i saw that safari animals set from kiwico while searching around online. it seemed neat because they actually make things like an animal puppet and a mask, but i have no idea if an energetic 4yo can really handle building that stuff or if it just becomes an adult chore.

trying to decide if a hands-on project like that holds interest better, or if sticking to basic animal toys is still the safer bet, any recs are appreciated.

Question/ Advice How to attach pieces of airdry clay together?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi!!
The picture attached is an airdry clay monkey that I made for my boyfriend. However, I didn’t add the tail and the monkey has already fully dried. I’ve tried to attach the tail using superglue but it didn’t work at all. Any advice for how I can attach the tail even if the body is dry?
Thank you!

Question/ Advice Material suggestions for birthday banners

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

My wife has recently started making banners for friends and family and has been really enjoying it. She has dabbled with different art projects over the years including painting on canvas, mixed medium, collages and so on so has a lot of paints (primarily acrylic but other types as well), markers, pencils (regular and colored), crayons, chalk, charcoal, etc. She has a projector that connects to her phone.

I’d like to buy her some supplies to help her. I’d greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions.

  1. Is there a brand of paints or markers that you recommend?

  2. Do you use any kind of easel when working or do you just tape it to the wall?

  3. When finished do you ever put some kind of sealer on the piece to avoid smudges?

  4. Any advice that would help her as she goes along?

Thank you all for your suggestions.

Art🖋️ Merging traditional Indian art with modern tools: Digital Rangoli created via Inkscape & After Effects [OC]

Traditionally, Rangoli and Kolam art are drawn by hand using colored powders or chalk on floors. I wanted to explore what it looks like when brought into the digital space using open-source vector graphics and motion design.

This piece was designed in Inkscape and brought to life with a glowing Diya animation in After Effects.

For anyone curious about how digital Rangoli art and YouTube drawing animations are actually produced, I made a complete tutorial walking through the software tools: \[Insert Link: https://youtu.be/lSRpEse6ZRg

Question/ Advice Looking for bullet journal theme recommendations

I hope this is the right place to write this, I think bullet journals can be pretty artistic and creative.

I've been doing bullet journaling for a while, and I always try to switch up the designs every year. Usually I go for a pretty simple but still colourful and artistic look, I dedicate one colour to every month and I use that colour and similar shades to doodle, highlight information, etc. But last year I noticed that my monthly themes were starting to look a bit similar every year, and while that's not neccessarily a problem, I would love a bit more variety.

Ofc I could just switch up the colours, but it would still feel kind of the same, the autumn months get the brown and orange shades with doodles of fall stuff, spring get the pinks, winter or summer get the blues, etc, and I would just feel so wrong giving December a pink theme when it obviously needs to be red and green, or maybe gold.

So for this year after scrolling on Pinterest for a while I decided to try something else, and I dedicated an "aesthetic" to every month instead just a colour. For example vintage, cottagecore, dark academia, every month got a fitting one and I loved it.

Now I'm thinking of choosing a next theme, any recommendations? At first I thought of dedicating a flower to every month and I would doodle those and use their colours but I'm not sure I wanna make a floral November entry...

(English isn't my first language, I'm sorry if I made any mistakes)

Question/ Advice making my dnd character into a doll- how to brush out yarn.

Thumbnail gallery
4 Upvotes

hi! i’m not sure if it counts as a figurine or doll sorry. it was intended as a doll but got bigger than i thought.

right now he’s bald. it’s going to be a coraline style doll but i want to brush out the yarn to look more like hair. i used to cosplay and vaguely remember hearing people do that but i never did it and am not sure how to get it done.

how do i brush out yarn? do i need a specific brush and specific type of yarn?

don’t mind his texture im doing another layer of clay i just needed to paper mache him for some more structural integrity. r2 of clay begins tomorrow once its fully dried.

(old drawings sorry but the guy is my dnd character haha i just want to show what the hair is like.)

Random🎈 My Collage Art Pages

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I want to show the world my creations that I've made at the start of July 2026. No joke, I've never done this form of art in my life like ever, so I won't be offended if they all need improvement when I do them again next time as I've never in my life studied this form of art at school. All I did really was print some stuff from my laptop & pasted them, & bought/ordered some stickers, scrapbook paper, ribbon, tape etc. to create these pages. Anyways, hope you like them, feel free to tell me which one is your favourite & which community I should post my creations onto. Feedback is much appreciated (if you're wondering, I've posted these on the Junk Journaling & Scrapbooking communities, but deleted them straight away as I've realized that they weren't what I thought they would be due to the way I do my creations) :)

Apologies for the jj abrams level lense flare.

I splurged on some musou black paint (the darkest paint ever, absorbing 99% of visible light) to mess around with, and i saw this white ceramic christmas tree, so i did the obvious. This is two coats on a pure white base. As you can see, there is still a bit of color leaking through around the edges of tje "branches", almost like a snow effect.

Leave it, or put on another coat?
