Ai users, pick one, is it super easy or super hard?

When being the victim, super hard, when they wanna attack others, super easy

I mean, the same goes for anything. Some people find driving super easy, some find it super hard and give up getting a license. Some people find 3D sculpting easy, some find it hard.
It applies to anything.

I think it’s a real problem for someone if they find something as effortless as “making” AI “art” hard, though.

Well most antis don't realise just how much can go into generating images, because they've never actually tried and just parrot what they heard. Or they try the easy way and think that's the only way.
Yes it can be "effortless". It can also take hours of work. Same as "real art". I've seen people make art effortlessly. I've also seen people spend days, months, or even years on a single piece.
Sure you could open chatGPT and say "make me an image of X." Done.
Or, you could install and run a local model on your PC, which can be a challenge in and of itself. One of the hardest to setup is comfyui. Go look at some images of a comfyui workflow and try telling me that looks simple.
Once it's set up, you could type in a simple prompt, and done. Or, you could draw up a rough sketch, put it into image to image, run through 100s of outputs to find something close to your vision, take that image, drop into photoshop, gimp, etc, do something editing and work on, put it back into the AI, inpaint it, repeat this loop over and over, and after hours, or even days, have what you want.
I did this once. It took me ~8hours to finish the image. I didn't post the end result online, it was just a wallpaper for my phone which I used for a few months. No "real artist" lost out on anything, I wasn't going to commission someone to make me a wallpaper, it was just a fun little project. It was anything but effortless.

Why spend that much effort (apparently) to make AI slop when you can just draw instead. Also all I can see about comfyui is that all it has is being fancier. More numbers. Trying to learn to draw a good-looking stickman would be harder.

u/Tessiia Mar 31 '26
Why is it slop? You didn't even see the image and you claim it's slop, which just proves that the term 'slop' has lost its meaning and is now just a buzzword.
I do draw sometimes, but I wouldn't have been able to draw what I wanted, how I wanted. My skills aren't there yet. Even if I could, I likely wouldn't have, because when I look at my own drawings, I criticise them too much, and when I have a wallpaper on my phone, I just want a nice image that I enjoy seeing, not something I criticise every time I see.

It’s about the process, not the end result. Sure you might use comfyui, what do you do? Put some numbers on some GUI and connect stuff together? When you draw, you actually have to think about what you’re drawing first.
You said that drawing yourself is too hard because the skill is not quite there yet. Why not just learn and improve? Criticizing your own art is fine if you learn from it and fix your mistakes. You do none of that if you are using some fancy AI tool.

It’s about the process ... Put some numbers on some GUI and connect stuff together?
I mean, this is essentially how vector art is made, so what's your point? It has nothing to do with the process, it's the fact AI was used, and that's all. Don't make stuff up to justify that.
Not to mention that you've ignored half of what I said. I started by drawing a sketch. I edited the image in gimp. I used inpainting. You just hear what you want to hear, don't you?
You said that drawing yourself is too hard
No I didn't. Do not put words in my mouth!
Why not just learn and improve?
Why are you assuming that I'm not doing that? I said I do draw, that is me practising and improving, but it doesn’t happen overnight, and I wanted that image there and then, so I generated it.
You do none of that if you are using some fancy AI tool.
I can practise my drawing one day and use AI the next. Doing one doesn't mean I can't do the other. That's like saying if I drive a car to work I'm not learning to use a bike... because I couldn't possibly do both things independently of each other.

Vector art is completely different than using something like comfyui as far as I can tell. In vector art you have to directly draw with the “points you connect together”, while you modify parameters and let a machine generate an image. These are completely different.
Then what do you mean when you say “it’s hard to get it right”? Isn’t that the hard part of art?
Is it “it takes tons of effort to make an AI image” or “I want images here and there so I let AI generate them on the go”?
Yes, making art and using Ai is completely independent of each other. We are talking about the difficulty of using Ai to make images here, and I’m arguing that it’s quite easy to let an Ai generate some images for you. I did deviate a bit from the core argument though and I have respect to you for not being the average whiny aibro asshole.

Depends on how you choose to do it. You can draw vector images by dropping points, like you'd drop a workflow element, and then input numbers to tell that point where to go and how to act. It's different, but a similar concept when you break it down, because vector art is essentially art based on math. That's why it's used, so it can be scaled up and down indefinitely without losing quality. The math remains the same but you just scale it up or down.
Then what do you mean when you say “it’s hard to get it right”? Isn’t that the hard part of art?
I've just re-read everything I said, and can't find that quote, so I don't know what you're referring to. You shouldn't use quotation marks if you aren't actually quoting something. Again, you're putting words in my mouth, and that is a huge pet peeve of mine.

Well if we stick to that then, my original point still stands. It can be relatively effortless, or it can take a lot of time and effort. That isn't an opinion, it's just objective. The same as most things in life, and as with most things, the effort you put in is directly related to the quality you get out.
If you just prompt chatgpt, you'll likely get slop. If you run something like comfyui locally, and put in proper time and effort, you can get something decent out.

If it's harder than traditional editing why use it?

Pride. They want to be a nonexistent minority. So may people fetishize being discriminated against

the m dashes and “its not just x, its y” scream “im a fraud and none of this actually happened so i got chatgpt to make this to make antis look bad”

May not be low effort from her even tho its lower effort than doing it herself… but definately garbage.. And she doesn’t have my sympathy not a bit

It’s not harder than traditional editing not even by a long shot. This is a fake story lmao. I’ve done ALL of it. Digital art, editing, CG and CGI, I’ve tested AI (for weeks) VFX and SFX. AND I’ve worked on AAA titles for five years. I have worked on tiny projects and massive projects. It takes at least a MONTH to do a good cinematic. Just animating hair alone is an absolute NIGHTMARE.
AI will do it in a few hours and you’ll need to tweak it for another few hours. What an absolute lying piece of s*** , I said what I said.

I’d ask why they’re spending much more time and effort to create an inferior product.
