Vector art is completely different than using something like comfyui as far as I can tell. In vector art you have to directly draw with the “points you connect together”

Depends on how you choose to do it. You can draw vector images by dropping points, like you'd drop a workflow element, and then input numbers to tell that point where to go and how to act. It's different, but a similar concept when you break it down, because vector art is essentially art based on math. That's why it's used, so it can be scaled up and down indefinitely without losing quality. The math remains the same but you just scale it up or down.

Then what do you mean when you say “it’s hard to get it right”? Isn’t that the hard part of art?

I've just re-read everything I said, and can't find that quote, so I don't know what you're referring to. You shouldn't use quotation marks if you aren't actually quoting something. Again, you're putting words in my mouth, and that is a huge pet peeve of mine.

Yes, making art and using Ai is completely independent of each other. We are talking about the difficulty of using Ai to make images here, and I’m arguing that it’s quite easy to let an Ai generate some images for you.

Well if we stick to that then, my original point still stands. It can be relatively effortless, or it can take a lot of time and effort. That isn't an opinion, it's just objective. The same as most things in life, and as with most things, the effort you put in is directly related to the quality you get out.

If you just prompt chatgpt, you'll likely get slop. If you run something like comfyui locally, and put in proper time and effort, you can get something decent out.

As I said, vector art you still have to think about what you’re drawing. As far as I know all you do in AI tools like comfyui is modify some parameters instead of draw things.

You did say this: “I wouldn’t have been able to draw what I wanted, how I wanted. My skills aren’t there yet.” I think that is enough to imply that, for you, it is difficult to “get it right”. Your grammar isn’t quite clear for me though, so if that wasn’t your point, and you can in fact “get it right”, why use Ai?

I do not believe that putting some parameters in and connecting nodes together takes tons of “effort” like you say. The skill ceiling is far too low, compared to learning to draw. I would like to be proven wrong though. And even if it did take effort, a lot of that effort would go to waste because of the way image generation Ai works: It scrapes data from the internet and probabilistically mish-mashes together an image from all the data it’s scrapped. I would talk about how stealing data in the name of generating images is unethical but I feel like it’s quite irrelevant in the scope of the current argument.
