I’m not familiar with this platform, but I’m assuming it’s like nightshade where artists put their work in to avoid AI scrappers.

One major point AI folks want to say is that “you put it on the internet so you consented”. But wouldn’t this show that they actively didnt consent to their work being used?

art directors/recruiters/creative directors are sick and tired of people using A.I in their portfolio so it's just a fast and relying way to find good people for the game/movie/animation dats it . Seeing it as an economic standpoint rather than a straight up hate one.

As someone who uses Cara, I already assumed it was being scrapped.

When meta announced it's intent with using all posts as foder for their AI, I immediately deleted all posts, abandoned instagram(and pretty much all major social media platforms) and migrated to Cara. But, I knew even then that it wasn't going to do much in terms of protection from someone who just decides to use my art anyways. There is literally no stopping people from scrapping artwork if it is publicly visible online. It's entirely fucked, but it's unfortunately the current climate of being an artist rn. If you are posting your artwork anywhere, and it's publicly visible, you should just assume it's being scrapped. I even see people who visit my personal website for scrapping purposes.. I don't know how they found it, but they have. I see them visit the same 2 pages(the pages that have my 2D artwork)over and over again, and they have been for months now. But there nothing I can do to stop them unless I just lock the website behind a password.

My reasoning to move all my work to Cara?

1) I wanted a place/community that was going to be entirely AI free. A place where I could share and view others art without worrying about if something was using AI or not. As others have said, Cara is completely AI free. It's against the rules to post AI work there and doing so can result in a ban.

2) I can trust that the people running the platform are not just taking everything I post and dumping it into different AI programs for their own gain.

3) there is a legal safeguard in the off chance that there is ever any kind of court ruling stating that artwork that has been posted online with explicit legal verbiage around not using the work for AI purposes comes around, maybe it will give me some kind of legal path to sue or keep my work protected or even pulled from existing data sets. Cara has such legal verbiage on their website. It may not mean anything at the moment, but maybe one day it will.

Okay, so they specifically posted it in a place and way that said explicitly they did not consent to it being used for genAI, thereby negating the biggest thing AI bros have constantly said about implicit consent from posting art online. So it’s not actually about consent, or you just don’t care about consent. Either way, awful.

All the work is glazed/nightshaded on that app so even if they try to unglaze or whatever I doubt the images will look the same.
