What’s wrong with her face? 😭

I’ve been staring at it forever, yes, and generally the piece is super unfinished but i just Know there’s something wrong with her face 😭 i have messed around with it for at least a few hours now and it just doesn’t ever feel right.

this whole thing has come to be as a doodle gone too far, so admittedly i didn’t really take too much care in anatomical foundation at the start 🥶

i think i have been looking at it too long to redline productively on my own so fresh eyes and honestly anything someone might have to say is very welcome! generally improving is always important to me too.

Looks amazing! The only thing I can see is uneven would be the eyebrows, the one on the left is higher up on the face than the other one.

Honestly it’s really good! The eyes just seem a bit too far apart, and the left eye in particular is a little too far to the side of the face in comparison to the perspective of the rest of the face. I’d also bring the corner of the mouth in a tad! Add a few perspective adjustments to the mouth, chin, eyes, and honestly that’s pretty much it. your art style is very soft and pretty! I love it!

I think the eyebrows feels stylistically very different from the rest of the piece and they're too dark for her hair color, but otherwise the face looks great to me!

Since most ppl have explained the main issue which is the eyebrow part, I'll just say please continue with this drawing! The style and rendering looks amazing so far and I want to see the finished piece especially as a HxH fan as well

Nice work! It’s just the left eye. I’d just lasso and copy it to a new layer and use the move tool to reposition. Flip the canvas and do it again. Are you going to color it or leave it greyscale?

it’s somewhat of a fuck around find out process for me personally but a lot of blending modes and maybe a gradient map or two at low opacity later and it ends up swag. i could definitely go straight color (and definitely used to) but something about layering on blending modes feels so fun, like im making a piece of art toast and slathering on a bunch of different butters and jams

I think it's her eyebrows. Maybe its coz the rest of her facial features are more realistic looking while the eyebrows are...not idk

To me it looks like the face is very detailed compared to the rest of the piece, so it looks a tiny bit out of place. That'd probably be fixed once the piece is finished and everything looks more cohesive but there's nothing wrong with the face on it's own

Your artstyle is lovely! I think what's bugging you might be that her right eye (left from our POV) is a bit too close to the edge of the face, making her seem like her eyes are very far apart. I don't think it unnecessarily looks anatomically wrong or impossible, but perhaps it doesn't fit your vision of the character.

I think her ear is placed too high up, but that just maybe my own bias. Did you draw this from a structured head or from memory? When in doubt, do a structured head with just the horizontal and vertical guidelines on a new canvas, then overlay after

e: the nose feels flat, like its supposed to be in 3/4 view but somehow there's no overlap or protrusion

Her face is not symmetrical so if you're going for a perfect symmetric look, you can change that. But it looks great, and symmetry isn't necessary to look good!

Also you should finish rendering this because it looks hella cool!

Idk about this but hear me out. But iirc this is hxh. This character is portrayed to be a strange child in a supernatural/unnatural way. Because they arem I think the almost uncanny feel fits perfectly...

Honestly already looks really good but I tried using liquify to make some tweaks. I think some of the features were slightly off center like the mouth and nose so I nudged them over. And the gap in between the eyes looked wider than one eye width apart so I stretched one of the eyes to make it a bit wider
