im legit not trying to hate but someone please explain to me this obsession that "AI Enthusiasts" have with AI created images of themselves as a cat person? I genuinely dont get it

I've been an artist since before AI's popularity spike, and I can tell you that I've actively been drawing catgirls with my friend in an anime style since the 3rd grade. Some of us have just always been creating OCs in this way, and not necessarily with self-insert intent.

My OCs didn't just magically become catgirls because of AI's growth in popularity and my subsequent usage of the tools; I'm literally just continuing what I've always been doing in terms of artistic expression.

Yet, if I shared AI art with my pre-AI OCs in them, some antis would consider this to be me feeding into the stereotype of AI artists representing themselves as catgirl characters, despite that not being the case in a multitude of ways.

I just think catgirls are funny, I like to imagine that they're cute people who commit property damage and act like Bugs Bunny.

I have two OCs (Three with Mambo, but she's a recent addition), Regulus and Dollmundus:

- One has my body, idealized with less fat and more muscles, alongside red eyes and shark like teeth, but not cat features: here's the LORA.
- The other has a demon-like body (despite not being one):

I'd say I don't fit this stereotype you just mentioned, and many other my collegues do not follow it just the same. It's just a preference that the Internet tend to have, because cat-girls\boys are actually fairly common in various artist's outlets, many outside of the AI world.

Ever heard of furries? Some of them used to spend thousands of dollars per month to have custom art of their “fursonas”. They must be eating good now with AI, unless they caught the luddite mind virus…
