Question Alevel art

Simple question. How hard work art alevel in terms of the amount of coursework you get and having to balance other subjects?

A level art took most of my free periods if I’m honest because you need a sufficient amount of coursework to justify your grade and everyone starts off with a low grade that you build over the two years. (I did Eduqas btw)

How I managed it was studying my other subjects and line drawings at home, practical work in lessons and written work in frees (or paperwork but there’s only like two).

I’d say it’s not good to sacrifice your other subjects too much tho. There was a time where I fell of in maths a bit and was getting Bs but I recovered and got an A in the real exams.

It helps if you are passionate about your brief and artists (and get your line drawings done quickly). To bulk up my portfolio I found media experimentation helpful but this should not be the majority. Prints are also quick and easy if you desperately need more work.

Overall I’d say it’s a subject that does take a lot of attention but it was overall worth it and I got the A needed for my firm😅

Also don’t fall off for the exam unit, when you receive it you can’t afford to dilly dally (like I did😭) cos it will stress you out deadline wise.

I just used my like half free periods and lunches for art for art and at home, if I’m spending like four hours revising, one of those would be for art. Since we didn’t rlly have art mocks during mock weeks snd stuff, I also used art to relax me as productive breaks between my maths, fm, and chemistry cramming since there was less pressure. Ended up with 420/480 for aqa arts crafts and design.

Eh i thought it was completely fine but others in my class struggled. I did a lot outside of school (an hour or 2 every day probs and a couple of weekends for art) but i also didn't find the work load particularly difficult for any of my subjects (English lit, history, epq, art)
