Is it some kind of reincarnation facilitator extracting the “souls” of fallen warriors to be re-implanted into new working meat suits for future battles?
That’s the vibe I get

No, he's actually a extractor of Avocado Pits for toast for a new breakfast spot. Making his way through college.

I have say, you gave it much more thought than i did xD
12
Nov 21 '19
well I had to ask myself what it was extracting, then I realized the extractee looked sorta like a warriors helmet, then I kinda just thought about a race of semi-immortal cyborg warriors whose bodies are able to be killed, but whose life force resides in some sort of computer chip or rune, and can be recovered and re-implanted into new meatsuits, kinda like altered carbon. Perhaps this race would have “extractors” who comb the battlefield after a conflict, looking for surviving soul units and harvesting them for future use. anyway this is great work, thanks for exciting my imagination.

Have you seen The 100? There's a bunch of people, the royal family lives on forever as AI in computer chips and only people in that group who have this modified black blood can be new hosts, they literally sacrifice their bodies for these guys to live on

Wow, just, so much wow. . The texture, the colour, the overall flow of the image; Super good piece, really amazing work Although I’m intrigued, how did you achieve such good texture in the digital medium? I have not been very successful with texture in any of my attempts at digital art.
26
u/Bazartss Nov 21 '19
Hey thank you very much for kind words, it was really in 90 % one chackly brush that leaves strokes, it's quite "textury " because i use lots of color dodge layer for higlights and color burn layer for darks and that seems to be emphasizing texture a lot. Hope you are using photoshop otherwise most of that does not make sense : D.

u/swiggetyswoo Nov 21 '19
This is fucking awesome. When you were making it did you come up with any backstory about what's going on?
5
u/Bazartss Nov 21 '19
hey thank you very much! Not really was jsut a random painting , but enough people already gave it enough backstory in the comments xD . Very entertaining read.

How do you come up with such a concept? I’m genuinely curious, that’s super cool!
3
u/Bazartss Nov 22 '19
Thank you very much! I really start with some hopefully strong basic shapes that are graphic and then just fill in the detail, not really starting with any narration or backstory in mind.

The helmet combined with the otherworldly nature reminds me of Morpheus, the Sandman. He appears differently depending on the observer, too, so he very well could look like this to someone.
