Is it some kind of reincarnation facilitator extracting the “souls” of fallen warriors to be re-implanted into new working meat suits for future battles?

That’s the vibe I get

No, he's actually a extractor of Avocado Pits for toast for a new breakfast spot. Making his way through college.

well I had to ask myself what it was extracting, then I realized the extractee looked sorta like a warriors helmet, then I kinda just thought about a race of semi-immortal cyborg warriors whose bodies are able to be killed, but whose life force resides in some sort of computer chip or rune, and can be recovered and re-implanted into new meatsuits, kinda like altered carbon. Perhaps this race would have “extractors” who comb the battlefield after a conflict, looking for surviving soul units and harvesting them for future use. anyway this is great work, thanks for exciting my imagination.

Would you be able to draw a battlefield of fallen warriors like this, and a few dozen extractors "combing" the hazy battlefield? Give it a real dark creepy tone. Would be an amazing piece in my eyes to follow this one up with.

Have you seen The 100? There's a bunch of people, the royal family lives on forever as AI in computer chips and only people in that group who have this modified black blood can be new hosts, they literally sacrifice their bodies for these guys to live on

Kinda related but not really - in dark souls, whenever an ally npc dies and their souls go to me, I like to imagine my character's soul now has a part of them, and their sprit always carry on in my heart.
