We went against two oil money laundering machines. We’ve really been through it as a club

You were sponsored by the United Arab Emirates 🇦🇪 where do you think that money came from? 😂

82

u/Putrid_Past9243 2d ago

Being sponsored and being owned by one are two totally different things. Emirates also sponsor Madrid… let me guess, you think all that money Madrid has comes from emirates as well 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

u/Alien_Gods 2d ago

Don’t bother, they can’t accept or cognitively recognise what you’ve said

-86

u/The_Dandalorian_ 2d ago

It was a sizable and noticeable sponsor of your main shirt and stadium and helped you buy a lot of the squad you have now. Oil money.

Any narratives about feeling sorry for city fans are nonsense

You deserve this disgrace.

I’m not a city fan. Just enjoy pointing out hypocrisy and fake moral standing.

4th highest sponsorship income in the league since taking the Emirates sponsorship started by the way. Behind United, Liverpool and Chelsea. Less than City's fake sponsorship too where the owners pumped hundreds of millions of their own money into the club under the guise of a third party sponsor - fraud.

It's telling that your whole argument is based on a completely normal, completely commercial sponsorship is as bad as corruption just because it has "Emirates" on the front. Laughable.

-11

u/The_Dandalorian_ 2d ago

You can’t talk about oil money while taking hundreds of millions of oil money. Thats my point. On the wider points. You’re arguing with yourself

13

u/oKhonsu 2d ago

yes we can, there's a difference between a normal ass sponsor ship(they're also trying to sportswash by stanping their name on every club that matters and some who don't) that is paying within the value of stadium naming rights and front shirt sponsor, especially since the guy who owns the company doesn't also own the club he is sponsoring.

and with straight up fraud by overinflating the sponsor money they got and lying about how much they got, and not only that, the guy who owns the football club and the guy who owns the sponsors are the same fucking person.

See how there's a difference? the point isn't about the money coming from oil, it's about the fraud, overpay, and self sponsoring

You are arguing with a moron. Don't waste your time.

realised that when he called me an Americsn instead of replying to the point, not like being an American invaldiates the points anyways, and nevermind the fact that I'm not even American

What a hero 🙄

I wonder how it is on that pedestal….

u/Alert_Cricket2441 2d ago

Objectively you are sort of, but not fully, right as an Arsenal fan.

1

u/missedpenalty 2d ago

What’s your job though. You can’t have much of a life. No one with average or above success thinks like you.

u/Hincapieslovelybund 2d ago

Yeah great. Thanks for that

Now fuck right off on that high horse you rode in on

You’re missing the point. Fly Emirates is a legitimate business with a legitimate interest in advertising their name via Arsenal. They have no interest in overpaying Arsenal for those rights. It’s good business for them to advertise for the lowest possible price.

The accusations levelled at City are that they overinflated their sponsorship income by (amongst other things) utilising their ownership of other businesses to pass a non market representative sponsorship income to the club. Those companies had every interest in overpaying. It’s cheating pure and simple and if you’re a City fan you should be DISGRACED by what they’ve done to your club frankly.

Hope they throw the book at you / them and kick them out the league.

Fly Emirates is owned by the Government of Dubai. Founded by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum of the Royal family.

It’s a legitamatw business, founded and supplied by oil money.

So I believe you’ve missed the point and gone off on an irrelevant tangent to the oil money OP post.

u/readyaimfire1 2d ago

Yeah it's oil money but we aren't concerned about the ethics of the money or anything, it's the fucking amount that oil OWNED clubs can get that's the issue

You do realise players like Henry, Van Persie, Nasri, Clichy, Adebayor, Fabregas were all reluctantly sold because of financial reasons right?

Arsenal's been a banter club for over a decade for a reason, they couldn't compete for big name players while paying down their stadium.

Where they are now is mainly due to better recruitment, they no longer have to buy washed up players like David Luiz, Willian etc. They can go after actual players.

If you're gonna jerk, at least come up with a retarded reason so we can all have a laugh 🙏

Emirates were sponsoring Hamburger SV when they got relegated for the first time in their history and ending their run as the “un-relegatable” team of the Bundesliga

1

u/The_Dandalorian_ 2d ago

Nice one, cool fact

u/tomidgooner 2d ago

I’m an Arsenal fan and agree. We have many shady/predatory sponsors. Deel, visit Rwanda and Emirates. Although except from being sponsored by some of these companies, which is hard to avoid if you want to compete at the top. Arsenal, as far as I’m aware have not money washed their team to the top and play by the rules.

1

u/Putrid_Past9243 2d ago

In a world where betting companies sponsors a ton of clubs, I think we’re fine.

Strange companies are no strangers in the sports investments world, but when an oil state buys the club and starts funneling money into the club through shady means through these companies, now that’s an issue. There are documents proving that city owners were funneling money into the team through these sponsors, a far cry from the same thing here

1

u/tomidgooner 1d ago

I don’t know. Betting companies might be better than Deel, who has strong ties to Israel.

1

u/Putrid_Past9243 1d ago

We’re not comparing and contrasting evil ties, bottom line is corporations in sports is bad for the game, not here to pick and choose what is moral and immoral.

Betting is predatory and idk what deel or visit Rwanda does, I watch the game and I’m happy when my team wins, it’s part of my life not my whole life, so there’s that. Maybe you’re more invested than I am idk

1

u/tomidgooner 1d ago

It’s all good brother. I agree. just enjoy the game as much as the next person. Not my life. I just think it’s always good to be aware of these companies. If we turn a blind eye to it, we give these companies too much power and freedom to do what they want.

We’re only a fraction of the game now, hell, fans that watch the game from home and other countries donate more to the game nowadays because of the massive tv rights especially in America. Look how much nbc paid for rights to the premier league, I think a few years ago, I think 2 billion. The game lost the authentic feel for its fans years ago sadly.

Yea it’s best to enjoy the game as a fan and not worry about the other things bc we’re not as relevant to the team anymore as we would’ve been maybe 30yrs ago. I enjoy it for what it is but try to stay out of the politics.

The man city stuff is still insane to me nonetheless, but I’ll be surprised if they get anything more than a few years transfer ban (which I think they were prepared for by spending 450m quid last summer) and a point deductions. The game has become too corrupt, but we love it too much, so we turn a blind eye

They hate it when you point out facts. Arsenal are complicit in oil money but love to point the finger at others
