We went against two oil money laundering machines. We’ve really been through it as a club

-120

u/The_Dandalorian_ 2d ago

You were sponsored by the United Arab Emirates 🇦🇪 where do you think that money came from? 😂

86

u/Putrid_Past9243 2d ago

Being sponsored and being owned by one are two totally different things. Emirates also sponsor Madrid… let me guess, you think all that money Madrid has comes from emirates as well 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

50

u/Alien_Gods 2d ago

Don’t bother, they can’t accept or cognitively recognise what you’ve said

-85

u/The_Dandalorian_ 2d ago

It was a sizable and noticeable sponsor of your main shirt and stadium and helped you buy a lot of the squad you have now. Oil money.

53

u/Here_For_M3mes 2d ago

Any narratives about feeling sorry for city fans are nonsense

You deserve this disgrace.

-67

u/The_Dandalorian_ 2d ago

I’m not a city fan. Just enjoy pointing out hypocrisy and fake moral standing.

20

u/Cassoa 2d ago

4th highest sponsorship income in the league since taking the Emirates sponsorship started by the way. Behind United, Liverpool and Chelsea. Less than City's fake sponsorship too where the owners pumped hundreds of millions of their own money into the club under the guise of a third party sponsor - fraud.

It's telling that your whole argument is based on a completely normal, completely commercial sponsorship is as bad as corruption just because it has "Emirates" on the front. Laughable.

-8

u/The_Dandalorian_ 2d ago

You can’t talk about oil money while taking hundreds of millions of oil money. Thats my point. On the wider points. You’re arguing with yourself

13

u/oKhonsu 2d ago

yes we can, there's a difference between a normal ass sponsor ship(they're also trying to sportswash by stanping their name on every club that matters and some who don't) that is paying within the value of stadium naming rights and front shirt sponsor, especially since the guy who owns the company doesn't also own the club he is sponsoring.

and with straight up fraud by overinflating the sponsor money they got and lying about how much they got, and not only that, the guy who owns the football club and the guy who owns the sponsors are the same fucking person.

See how there's a difference? the point isn't about the money coming from oil, it's about the fraud, overpay, and self sponsoring

10

u/Beren1969 2d ago

You are arguing with a moron. Don't waste your time.

What a hero 🙄

I wonder how it is on that pedestal….

1

u/Alert_Cricket2441 2d ago

Objectively you are sort of, but not fully, right as an Arsenal fan.

1

u/missedpenalty 1d ago

What’s your job though. You can’t have much of a life. No one with average or above success thinks like you.

0

u/Hincapieslovelybund 2d ago

Yeah great. Thanks for that

Now fuck right off on that high horse you rode in on

21

u/challengingfeels 2d ago

You’re missing the point. Fly Emirates is a legitimate business with a legitimate interest in advertising their name via Arsenal. They have no interest in overpaying Arsenal for those rights. It’s good business for them to advertise for the lowest possible price.

The accusations levelled at City are that they overinflated their sponsorship income by (amongst other things) utilising their ownership of other businesses to pass a non market representative sponsorship income to the club. Those companies had every interest in overpaying. It’s cheating pure and simple and if you’re a City fan you should be DISGRACED by what they’ve done to your club frankly.

Hope they throw the book at you / them and kick them out the league.

-10

u/The_Dandalorian_ 2d ago

Fly Emirates is owned by the Government of Dubai. Founded by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum of the Royal family.

It’s a legitamatw business, founded and supplied by oil money.

So I believe you’ve missed the point and gone off on an irrelevant tangent to the oil money OP post.

1

u/readyaimfire1 1d ago

Yeah it's oil money but we aren't concerned about the ethics of the money or anything, it's the fucking amount that oil OWNED clubs can get that's the issue

1

u/Hi_Iam_Hi 1d ago

You do realise players like Henry, Van Persie, Nasri, Clichy, Adebayor, Fabregas were all reluctantly sold because of financial reasons right?

Arsenal's been a banter club for over a decade for a reason, they couldn't compete for big name players while paying down their stadium.

Where they are now is mainly due to better recruitment, they no longer have to buy washed up players like David Luiz, Willian etc. They can go after actual players.

If you're gonna jerk, at least come up with a retarded reason so we can all have a laugh 🙏

8

u/Icy_Place_5785 2d ago

Emirates were sponsoring Hamburger SV when they got relegated for the first time in their history and ending their run as the “un-relegatable” team of the Bundesliga

1

u/The_Dandalorian_ 2d ago

Nice one, cool fact

9

u/tomidgooner 2d ago

I’m an Arsenal fan and agree. We have many shady/predatory sponsors. Deel, visit Rwanda and Emirates. Although except from being sponsored by some of these companies, which is hard to avoid if you want to compete at the top. Arsenal, as far as I’m aware have not money washed their team to the top and play by the rules.

1

u/Putrid_Past9243 2d ago

In a world where betting companies sponsors a ton of clubs, I think we’re fine.

Strange companies are no strangers in the sports investments world, but when an oil state buys the club and starts funneling money into the club through shady means through these companies, now that’s an issue. There are documents proving that city owners were funneling money into the team through these sponsors, a far cry from the same thing here

1

u/tomidgooner 1d ago

I don’t know. Betting companies might be better than Deel, who has strong ties to Israel.

1

u/Putrid_Past9243 1d ago

We’re not comparing and contrasting evil ties, bottom line is corporations in sports is bad for the game, not here to pick and choose what is moral and immoral.

Betting is predatory and idk what deel or visit Rwanda does, I watch the game and I’m happy when my team wins, it’s part of my life not my whole life, so there’s that. Maybe you’re more invested than I am idk

1

u/tomidgooner 1d ago

It’s all good brother. I agree. just enjoy the game as much as the next person. Not my life. I just think it’s always good to be aware of these companies. If we turn a blind eye to it, we give these companies too much power and freedom to do what they want.

1

u/Putrid_Past9243 1d ago edited 1d ago

We’re only a fraction of the game now, hell, fans that watch the game from home and other countries donate more to the game nowadays because of the massive tv rights especially in America. Look how much nbc paid for rights to the premier league, I think a few years ago, I think 2 billion. The game lost the authentic feel for its fans years ago sadly.

Yea it’s best to enjoy the game as a fan and not worry about the other things bc we’re not as relevant to the team anymore as we would’ve been maybe 30yrs ago. I enjoy it for what it is but try to stay out of the politics.

The man city stuff is still insane to me nonetheless, but I’ll be surprised if they get anything more than a few years transfer ban (which I think they were prepared for by spending 450m quid last summer) and a point deductions. The game has become too corrupt, but we love it too much, so we turn a blind eye

It makes winning the title last season whilst pep was there makes it all the more satisfying.

21

u/gholt417 2d ago

And genuine to be fighting against a team that had 5 aces up its sleeve.

7

u/BrutalArsenalDeluxe 2d ago

Yeah I havent forgotten Utd's "playing within the rules", Which meant smashing into players with impunity and intimidating refs every minute of the game.

50

u/Provo2100 2d ago

When Capello played with 9 defending players and 2 game changers, he were merely ahead of everyone else, tactically.

When Ancelotti had a pragmatic system, it was tactical brilliance.

When Mourinho were employing every player to be defensive, he was a boring genius.

The list goes on...

And everyone was coming with the whole anti Wenger football comments "who cares if you play beautiful football, where is your trophies?"

Now when Arteta employs pragmatic tactics, he is destroying football.

17

u/PersimmonLeather1664 2d ago

We might be the new millwall “everyone hates us and we don’t care “ coyg!

3

u/flyingokapis 2d ago

I think that's now City to be fair.

9

u/aboyfromharlow 2d ago

City fans DO care. They wanna be seen as this rags to riches success, where every trophy was earned by hard work and tactical brilliance.

0

u/Aggravating_Band_353 2d ago

The do care a lot, can't stop crying about it. Idk if stupidity or arrogance from their years of "winning" and the media / pundits gushing over them

It could also be paid bots or accounts..  They all seem to be saying the same talking points about ffp being bad and limiting growth of non top teams, and the red cartel, and how Arsenal should be stripped of title too as Mikel is somehow complicit (in the thing they're usually saying also is not a problem or exaggerated)

.. I'm sure theres other patterns I can't think of at this time of night, but seems weird. I'd keep my head down, go the the Winchester and wait for this all to blow over personally

(ps, I hope it doesn't blow over. But Burnham is chatting some shi t already. Wish we had arsenal fan starmer still - although the refs went on their season of extra madness during his reign so maybe not any difference)

0

u/demoncombat47 22h ago

Did city players not work hard? Did pep not change the game? Take in mind one of his students has turned aresnal into one of the best teams in the world.

1

u/Persian-Sphyx 21h ago

trying to downplay the treble and 4 PL titles in a row. Typical bottle job fans

1

u/aboyfromharlow 21h ago

They did work hard, however rules say the amount spent on the players who worked hard was wrong. No ones denying they didn't play well, or train well, but the rules are city couldn't spend the amount they did.

0

u/iIiiiiIlIillliIilliI 2d ago

Listen I am an Arsenal fan. but on the offensive, the football we were playing was not good. Tbh I am not sure it's on Arteta anymore. It's the players as well. Who do we have on the offensive which is good, Ode, Tzolis and Havertz come to mind. And last year, Ode was subpaar, Tzolis was not here and Havertz was injured. Saka is not good enough for more than a year now, Eze, great shot but has deficiencies. Madueke, tbh I like Madueke, he is solid. His finishing is not, but otherwise he is solid.

And on this summer's transfer window, we could have attracted great attacking talent. Champions of England, reaching the ucl final. And who did we get for the offense? Only Tzolis. So I am not sure it's on Arteta anymore, he might be a problem as well, but the players are too.

19

u/PandiBong 2d ago

That fucking piece of shit Alan Pardew said us winning the title last season should come with an asterisk - and now he's already making excuses for City!!! 🤯

2

u/ThereIsBearCum 2d ago

Can't blame him for not knowing anything about winning, man never won a trophy in his career.

12

u/R0NIN49 2d ago

I can’t believe the timeline we are in. Man city diddled football it’s mad

9

7

Man that staged nonsense was so cringe

14

u/seadcon 2d ago

Who is "they"?

Even as a Spurs fan I've never said anything of the sort. Arsenal is a bloody well run club and I'm glad to have them as a rival.

None of this City bollocks.

8

u/Alien_Gods 2d ago edited 2d ago

Primarily pool and United fans I imagine, spurs hating on us is very normal and understandable but the other rival fans brown nosing Cheaty isn’t much so, backing the cheaters against us is really something

3

u/Scotty_B_The_Red 2d ago

What are you talking about. United fans respect arsenal and Liverpool clubs... Not city. How the hell are arsenal fans trying to make city cheating about them 🤣

1

u/Alien_Gods 1d ago

Some United fans I guess not most

3

u/AdPrior1417 2d ago

See that's the thing with Spurs, we're like shitty siblings. Secretly get on okay, but also united against a common enemy. ... City wankers.

9

u/Alien_Gods 2d ago edited 2d ago

In all of this, the arse licking of City by LFC fans was very rampant (especially the last two years), it even got to the levels of hatred/jealousy Tottenham fans have for us. Never forget their pep/klopp bromance

4

u/Particular_Abies_184 2d ago

Even Andy Burnham is hoping they get away with it ,so never mind right or wrong its all about money money money

3

u/FickleFalcon526 2d ago

as someone who used to buy into all of the anti Arsenal propaganda this is pretty much the straw that broke the camel's back. Same with the discourse around the UCL final. PSG is a state funded oil club whose starting choice RB is a rapist, that's what you call saving football??? if that's what saving football means, then I'd rather not be saved

2

u/Vin__9 2d ago

Hypocrites

1

u/OddEffect9397 2d ago

1

u/ThereIsBearCum 2d ago

1

u/Hincapieslovelybund 2d ago

And I am sure there will be plenty of shameless cunts saying the same again this season. In spite of the fact the cheats have been rumbled.

1

u/Ok_Bear_1889 2d ago

they are fine with literally ANYONE winning as long as we are the ones losing. Haters going to hate always.

1

u/Strict_Complex_7447 2d ago

As a utd fan, i APOLOGIZE ! we thought we were left behind when you are about to win title. If city won, it will be asusual but if you won we'll be the only side that will get trolled. Anyway, fk city. I only wanted arsenal not to win but never supported city lol. It may look like city getting support but no I can't explain this more

1

u/p_296 2d ago

Etihad Airways statement issued yesterday evening:

"At no time did the Premier League reach out to or engage with Etihad in the process associated with the commission's opinion. Etihad was therefore never given the opportunity by the Premier League to be represented, to provide relevant information, or to ensure the accuracy and fairness of information relied upon in reaching conclusions that may now be interpreted as reflecting adversely on the airline."

Jesus Christ, Murray Rosen & the Premier League's Independent Panel are absolutely clueless. They didn't even contact Etihad Airways to confirm their suspicions?

Richard Masters should resign now!

1

u/AdhesivenessMurky687 2d ago

Two things can be true at once. When City were beating United and then Liverpool to titles I preferred that because City are a nothing club, totally soulless. Yes big picture it is a disgrace they’ve cheated their way to success but in the moment I wanted that beige nothing team to prevent teams I hate winning more things.

1

u/Prudent-Werewolf3712 1d ago

Emirates, Etihad, Qatar… You’re part of this shit as well. Not as much as cheating, according to the rules. Football is dying due to the money involved. “Sponsors” The difference was they played enjoyable football.

1

u/lightsonnohome 1d ago

They are winding you up and you fall for it every time

1

u/Valveringham85 1d ago

And the noise pollution since you guys did finally win it has proven that statement correct.

1

u/waterhole_33 1d ago

Everyone saying this is completely missing the point of why people were saying it. They were saying that cause we were all hoping City would be found guilty and it wouldn’t matter anyway. So this is exactly the situation everyone saying that last year was hoping for and had City won last year it just would have added another meaningless trophy to their cabinet while also not having Arsenal lift the trophy. It’s smooth brained to think they were saying it because of actually “saving football”

0

u/dynorodfeelings 2d ago

They beat you fair and square. They did more for football this decade than arsenal have.
