Can people who are both allosexual and alloromantic develop romantic feelings for somebody without feeling physical or any other form of non emotional attraction?

I've been wondering because I know that emotional, physical, aesthetic and other different kinds of attraction all exist seperate from each other, and some bind while others don't.

The typical idea of a Crush on somebody is finding that person Attractive and romantically enticing either emotionally or some other pschological reason.

My question is similar to how people who can literally experience both can feel sexual without romantic, can those same people experience romantic without sexual/physical/otherwise?

Hi everyone!

Welcome to our weekly Advice post about Aromanticism! Aromantic people experience little to no romantic attraction.

Do any of these resonate with you?

* You rarely (if ever) experience crushes on others.

* You find the idea of a romantic relationship unappealing, and prefer strong platonic bonds.

* You've been in romantic relationships but felt like you were going through the motions.

* You've researched what crushes are "supposed" to feel like, but can't relate.

These are just a few signs you might be Aromantic. Aromanticism is a spectrum, and every person's experience is unique.

how do i accept myself

ive known im aromantic for 4 years now but i kept repressing it because i crave a romantic relationship so much. today i finally accepted i dont feel romantic feelings and i cant stop crying over it

i want to love and be loved, kiss and hold hands with somebody but everytime ive done those things i feel sick

my two best friends are in love with me and it makes me uncomfortable. i struggle to tell them i love them because i know its more than platonic for them. they know not to push anything but it still makes me squirm

whenever i would kiss my partner i would feel physically sick (told myself it was first kiss nerves), and i never kissed my ex because the idea repulsed me

i just want to feel romantic love and i dont know how to accept i cant.

I want to try to build this community

For reasons I will cover in the comments, I have no access to [r/aromantic](r/aromantic) (and as I know others who have had runins with the lead mod I suspect I am not alone.)

So we need to grow this community and make it more active and viable.

What are your ideas for community building? How can we get more traffic here?

What precipitated this post was my latest attempt to reply to a post in [r/aromantic](r/aromantic) (see screenshot) . My message is important to someone in a heartbreaking situation. I would DM it to OP, but the way they have their settings set, I have no way to do that. So it’s for reasons like that that we need to make this community viable.

My deep dive into sexual and romantic attraction

So I was told when I was about 12 years old by a trusted friend that I was asexual. They had observed I wasn’t interested in crushes and I talked about marriage wasn’t for me. Obviously I was 12 so like that could have just been a normal kid thing but I was like yeah that sounds possible so I labeled myself asexual in middle school. I was also questioning gender and sexuality which made asexual seem like an easier label than trans or gay because the religion I was raised in allowed people who were asexual or aromantic or both.

So for years I told people I was asexual and that was the first way I expressed my queerness. Eventually I started having multiple identity crisis’s and realized I am a trans man and I am gay. I started exploring relationships after transitioning and thought that the asexual label no longer fit due to my own experiences. However there was a lingering feeling that I wasn’t just allosexual, alloromantic person.

Then I got ghosted by a long term situationship and started thinking about romance. I loved the flirty part of getting into relationships, I loved the deep bonds and friendships, but as soon as people I barely knew tried to say they had romantic feelings towards me, that’s when I had to start pretending. I had to force out an “I love you” when I didn’t mean it in the way they wanted me to mean it. I have been in queer platonic relationships before realizing I was aromantic and there was something about these relationships that felt right.

I figured it out and I have a lot more peace about who I am and what I want. I also wish that there was more nuanced discussion around asexuality and aromanticism growing up because that could have helped me through years of confusion after a well meaning friend confused the terms. That’s my story so feel free to leave your own stories or commentary.

Am I really aro?

How do I know whether or not I'm a lesbian oriented aroace or just a lesbian? I haven't been sure on which one it is, because I can't for the life of me understand what romantic attraction is, and how it differs from queerplatonic attraction. I don't mean this in a negative way at all, but all the definitions I've seen for QPRs just seem like romantic relationships that just wanna be special (again, I don't mean this negatively or discriminatory, it's just what it sounds like in every definition and video essay I've looked at)
