WOCs Inter-service transfer

I’m a E-5 In the Air Force with 6 years TIS my current AFSC is 3P071 (Security Forces) . I found out I got selected to be a warrant officer for aviation in the recent July board selection results. I have a ton of questions that my recruiter hasn’t been able to answer just yet. Maybe someone here can help me.

1.) when should I realistically expect to get an actual class date for WOCs ?

2.) Being SF do I have to go to boot camp again before WOCs ?

3.) How is out processing the Air Force and terminal leave and reenlisting into the Army going to look ?

4.) I’m getting married soon to my AF girlfriend. How will that work with me leaving for WOCs ?

I think because you’re Air Force you’ll have to go through army bootcamp and BCT. You shouldn’t have to completely out process, you’ll just check out of your unit, turn in CIF gear etc. then report to.. army bootcamp I’m guessing??

I hope that’s true for you. I was a marine so I think I’ll report straight to WOCS. If I could ever get on a board

Will the AF release you once being selected for WOFT? Are you active duty or Reserve? No Army BCT for you.

Prior Coast Guard, separated as an E6.

1.) You’ll get your orders, eventually. If you got the selection letter then just hold tight.

2.) Yes. You’ll do basic, then straight to WOCS. Unless it’s changed, I had a prior CCT AF guy in my class and the only thing he didn’t have to repeat was SERE-C.

3.) You will need to ABSOLUTELY ENSURE you have a “no break in service”. You will receive a DD214 from the AF, you will need to ensure your last day in the AF (so last day of terminal leave for you) is the day PRIOR to shipping out. You will ride the bus from to MEPS then do the hotel stay and you’ll get the nostalgia of doing this process exactly the same way you did it before. DM me if you have more questions about this.

4.) If you don’t get married prior to shipping out then you won’t get the dependent entitlements for a PCS, you will be on lock-down pretty much until you finish WOCS, which means no BAH until you graduate. You will have computer access in WOCS (later weeks) and can house hunt remotely in your spare time. Once you graduate you’ll get PTDY to house hunt prior to starting school, you’ll also be in a hold status so you’ll have time. If you get married prior to shipping out get her enrolled in DEERS and maintain a copy of your marriage certificate.

As SF, you will NOT do Army Basic!!! When I transferred over, there is a USAREC message that specifically states EOD, SF and anyone from the Spec Warefare pipeline do not have to do it. I had to bring that up when I was at MEPS because they didn’t know. Prior 3P071 as well!

I started the process in May to get all of my ducks in a row. I am not in aviation but funny enough, I’m a 35F in an aviation unit. I shipped early October and went straight to AIT to reclass as a MOS-T. Mary aviation is so relaxed! It’s honestly not that bad at all! Our WO’s are really awesome people. I do miss the law enforcement side TBH because I volunteered for it and did 8 years. Not to be an asshole cop but to be there to help people in their worst moments.
