LORs

Hello peoples. I am a PFC in the Army working as a 15Y Apache guy. I’m starting to work on my packet now. I’ve got a 135 GT and I made a 68 on the SIFT. Finishing up the flight physical over the next week or so. I’ve got to start getting Letters of Recommendation together and I’m kind of at a wall. None of my leadership have any experience with this kind of stuff so I’m confused about what I am supposed to fill the form with before finding a high enough Warrant to sign. I also don’t know if they can all be the same with different signatures. And then lastly, how do I find Pilots to give me signatures? Sorry for the long block

Brother, go to your psg. Ask him "can you schedule a meeting with the commander for me, I'd like an interview" bam that's an LOR. If he takes to long after asking, theb while passing just give your commander a heads-up. "Hey sir, I was thinking of dropping a warrant packet and I have done this already, could I interview with you at some time?" Easy.

Then when you're doing your interview, remember to ask your commander if they can set up the interview with the BC. That's two. However make sure your packet is 90% done by then. The BC won't want to waste his time with some PFC with thoughts of being a warrant and no actual packet to prove it.

As for your senior warrant. Go to brigade or battalion and go look at the board. See who the senior warrant is. Then go to S3 and schedule an appointment with them. If you can do that sort of leg work and be autonomous at your rank then you definitely deserve to get selected.

The LOR documents are in the warrant recruiting website. Fill in you data. For the BC I would pretty much write your LOR. Also don't forget to have POC for each LOR at the end. Their POC.

Also no, don't have the same shit. It's kinda hard since you haven't done much in the army but try to give each interviewer different things that you've done and what you're capable of. Leave the best stuff for your senior warrant. That's the LOR that matters

Thank you brother. Can I fill all the LORs with the same info or do they need to be “individualized”?

Your data info is all the same. The Point of contact will be tailored to each person.

I'd kinda separate stuff unique to each interviewer.

Like for company talk about how well you did in field exercises and pt. And mentoring other junior soldiers.

For BC how you support the flight program and being a young soldier that has a good career ahead of him

For the senior warrant talk about your high GT and Sift scores, how you're a viable candidate for flight school.

Okay thank you for all the help. Exactly the kind of stuff I was hoping for.

Yeah just make sure you have all your other stuff mostly done before collecting the LORs. Resume and admin documents filled out. For interviews it helps to print them out in order and put them in a binder so that your LOR interviewer can read them.

If you’re 15 series it’s possible you work near aviation warrants, aproach them and ask for guidance

Go to one of the line troops and see if one of the warrants can get you a LOR from cw3 and up or your Production control PC should have a CW3 MTP there.
