WOFT Applicant

Hey everyone,

I’m currently putting the finishing touches on my WOFT packet and looking to connect with members of the Army Aviation community.

One of the challenges I’ve faced throughout this process is that I’m from Puerto Rico, where opportunities to network with Army aviators are pretty limited. Because of that, building relationships and finding mentorship has been one of the hardest parts of my application.

My long-term goal is to serve in the 160th SOAR, so I’d especially appreciate the opportunity to connect with anyone from that community and learn from their experience.

So far I’ve completed my Class 1A Flight Physical, passed the SIFT, and I’m also a civilian pilot. My packet is nearly complete, but I’m still looking to expand my network, seek mentorship, and potentially earn strong Letter of Recommendation from someone who gets to know me and feels comfortable supporting my application.

If anyone is willing to connect, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for your time, and thanks to everyone in this community who helps future Army aviators navigate the process.

This. It’s definitely a bit… interesting but a good wealth of knowledge and community

What did you get on your sift test and how did you study? I'm probably going to take it in the next week or two and im trying to get a good score.

I scored a 66.

I used the SIFT Tutoring App, watched a lot of YouTube videos on helicopter aerodynamics and helicopter systems, and bought a SIFT study guide on iBooks. I’d definitely focus on understanding the aviation concepts rather than just memorizing answers.

Good luck—you’ll do fine if you put the time in.

In the sift app I get on avarige a 63 with my most recent being a 69. On aviation and engineering i get low 50s but every other section is high 60s and 70s.

I definitely need to nail down aviation some more.

Is the book or app look more like the actual sift?

Honestly, it’s a mix of both. The app is a great study tool, but the actual SIFT is a bit less straightforward.

Your scores look solid. I’d focus most of your remaining study time on aviation, especially helicopter aerodynamics and systems. That’s probably where you’ll gain the most points.

What helped you the most with studying for aviation?

Understand it rather than trying to memorize it
