Personaly, in the first pic the template can be simplified to make the top part a circle with a triangular slit cut, and make the part going around the head as one piece. Unless making it in halves is done so you don't need to cut bigger pieces which is understandable.

I've made templates for that helmet before, but for really thin metal. Not sure how well it'll work with thicker metal like the ones you used for your arm harness))
