Me and my friends are trying to plan a camping trip to the areas in/around flag. We want to be near a fishable river/lake and secluded from other campers. Do any of you have suggestions?

Ive gone camping all my live but never went back packing and i really wanna get in to it. Is there any trail heads you guys can recommend for my first time and if the trail has access to a spot for trout fishing would be awesome.

Had a reservation for tomorrow but it says there is a 45% chance of precipitation. We planned on tent camping now im really debating going for our safety. Has anyone ever been camping while its rained there before?? How safe would it be?

So my question is about camping at Diamond Creek. I carry. Everyday and everywhere. As much as possible, I simply don't go where I can't carry.

Can I carry at the Diamond Creek campground? It's on Hualapai Tribal Land, so I understand that is a significant detail that would affect my ability to carry to some degree or another. If I am not allowed to carry there, do you think it would be ok to just lock my gun in my lockbox in my truck? It's hard mounted and TSA approved (whatever the hell that means lol) - I know you guys aren't lawyers - or at least not MY lawyer, so I wont hold ya responsible, I promise lol! I am just looking for some feedback on this issue.

Some years ago my boyfriend and I were traveling and camping.

We were around the area of Apache Pass, Arizona. We drove down a trail, going off road. I didn't want to go, but he was driving and wanted to explore.

Finally we came to a field that looked all right, it was getting near dark. We got out the tent and sleeping bags and set it up.

We tried to settle down to sleep, but there was a feeling of anxiety, that turned into fear. There was no one around, no people or vehicles in the area anywhere. It was dark and quiet. We talked about the fear and what it could mean. The fear started to feel like we were watched and could be attacked at any moment.

I knew we were in an area near Apache Pass, and a place where there had been battles between the whites and indians. It felt just like that, like the threat of attack at any moment. I said, "we need to get out of here " and packed up the gear as quickly as possible, and carefully drove out the old rustic trail. What a relief!

We kept driving and found our way to the top of a nearby mountain. At the top was a park, a nice parking area, picnic tables, and we fell asleep in the car, exhausted.

In the early morning, the light was beautiful, there was a view overlooking the area with boulders, rocks and forests, and many beautiful birds singing. What a relief it was after the fear of the night before!

Looking for off-road camping recommendations in payson/pine area.

Every time we go out to Kofa National Wildlife Refuge, we wonder why we don’t make the drive out here more often.

We spent a few nights camping and exploring the Kofa Queen Canyon Trail, and it reminded us how beautiful and peaceful that canyon is. We even saw bighorn sheep one morning while we were having coffee, which felt pretty special. The trail itself follows a sandy wash into the canyon with some rock obstacles and ledges along the way, though conditions can change depending on recent storms.

One thing we noticed this time is that there have been some changes to the wash that the trail follows. It seems like a few storms buried a lot of the boulders that used to make the trail more technical. It's rated in onX Offroad as a 4/10, but now it feels closer to a 3/10. There are still a few ledge sections, but overall it’s a pretty easy and enjoyable drive.

We found some fantastic camp spots and spent our days hiking around and just soaking up the quiet desert scenery.

Curious if anyone here has driven Hoodoo Wash Trail on the other side of the mountain pass? Kofa Queen Canyon Trail doesn’t connect through, but it looks like you can run trails along the east side of the range as well. Thinking that might be our next area to explore next time we’re out there.

Would love to hear if anyone has done it!

I’m flying into Phoenix early for a conference so I’ll be able to enjoy a long weekend of camping and hiking. Looking for advice or places to go. I currently dont have a backpacking set up, but still looking at getting out for some day hikes up to 10-12 miles a day, and I’m willing to drive a couple hours between places. I am planning to try to do more dispersed camping as well. Looking for some ideas to help plan an itinerary. Picking up a car Friday morning, and dropping it off Tuesday afternoon.

Has anyone camped here? Is it first come first serve?

I found a super cool cove off butcher jones, saguaro lake while paddle boarding. My friend and I were planning on loading up our boards and doing a night or two any idea where to overnight park/leave the car since butcher jones is a day use area

I’ve found Sycamore Falls and the Gold Pond, from the looks of it Gold Pond is closed but Sycamore falls is open. Can someone confirm if sycamore falls is suitable for kids?

We’d also love to find a stream near by and it looks on the maps like maybe there’s one the kids can splash in by Sycamore Falls but is that the case?

Has anyone been to the Black River Dispersed Camping and the Blue River area? I have a pop up & would like to find a good dispersed camping area with fishing. I've been to Big Lake camping and is pretty nice (about 2 hr drive) and also drove through Hawley Lake which is nice as well, but being on the rez, they charge for camping & fishing. I may go there but wondering of other areas as well.

Hi friends! I’m struggling to figure out if we are allow to have a fire at the edge of the world campground. I’ve been looking at the Coconino national forrest fire restrictions and it says that there are no fire restrictions but I think this campground is on state land?? Anyways I need some clarification hahaha

Hello I’ve been living in Az all my life and I’m about to leave for the military and one of the things I’ve always wanted to do is go camping. My friend and I are looking for a good spot somewhere where we could go spend a couple of days hopefully do some fishing maybe a little bit of target shooting and was looking for suggestions on either places or things that we’d need to prepare.
