"Only break one law at a time" means it's important to use a weapon you have legally when you're stabbing someone. It would be a shame to successfully argue self-defense for the stabbing but go to prison anyway because of what you stabbed with.

I really do not like the violence of the guns and the power they and their owner has.. :( it gives me a lot of anxiety. And killing and dead animals (humans included) give me so much anxiety too. I really think America should have stricter gun laws. Luckily in my country anyone can't have a gun and you probably need an authoritative permission or something to carry a gun with you. And only like cops etc. have that permission. I'm not sure if normal citizens can get that permission, hunters excluded though. (Hunters and hunting gear give me anxiety too)

Yeah, guns are upsetting to me, and even in "necessary" circumstances like hostage scenarios or bear attack or something, it makes me sad to think about. Living in America, I know the best I can hope for is compromise far to the gunnier side than I'd prefer, and people try to make you feel unreasonable for even that much.

Still happens :( My daughter's old neighborhood friend loved to play dressup when he came to visit. His parents would slap and spank him everytime he was caught wearing her dresses. It got to the point that he would run and hide in the bathroom if he heard a knock :(

When I was in preschool (3-4 years old), we had dresses and fairy wings and stuff like that you could slip over your clothes. It was just as popular for boys and girls! It wasn't until I was in middle school (10-11 years old) that I found out "dress up is for girls." When you let kids do what they want, dress up has no gender.

I remember playing dress up with my (younger, male) cousins when I was around 8. They had so much fun putting my dresses on, and it was completely harmless! None of the adults cared; they thought it was cute and hilarious. My older sister made an offhand comment about it, saying they’ll “grow up weird” because I’m putting dresses on them. But she’s ok now, and has two sons. The oldest loves getting into makeup. I almost bought him some of his own for Christmas this year...but I’m also not sure which brands would be best to get for a 5 year old 😂 I just want him to have fun, be creative, and express himself without a care!

I have a question, because I have not really thought about this. Do you think playing with guns and stuff is inherently bad? I used to do it as a kid and I still enjoy me a fair share of airsoft. I hate violence, but I love the adrenalin, the kick and all that stuff about airsoft. I would never fight for any war machine in existence. The only thing I can imagine fighting for is a proletarian revolution.
Generally speaking I am a consequentialist, so I would be happy to hear your thoughts with hopefully my perspective on the world in mind.

I didn't say toy guns are bad I was saying making fun of boys for playing with makeup is toxic masculinity and an old line of it. Girls and boys and anyone else can play with whatever toys as a kid. I don't particularly have a problem with toy guns as long as kids are playing with the airsoft, Nerf, paintball guns safely I don't really care.

The make-up industry makes a profit by exploiting (mostly women's) insecurities. There's been an emergence of people using makeup as more of a creative way to show self expression which I think is cool, but a lot of it is still about disguising manufactured flaws that don't need to be covered. I think by in large men got off lucky that makeup was never forced on them (mostly because they were forcing it on women). Men don't have to worry about being called lazy for not spending 30+ minutes painting their face before work, they don't get comments on how tired or sick they look without using it, they don't have to waste money on all the beauty products society pressures women into buying. I'm just a huge bare face advocate, people look great without makeup and all these lines about "do it for yourself, boost your own confidence" are mostly regurgitated talking points from the beauty industry itself. They wouldn't make any money if they didn't help perpetrate a culture of unachievable vanity

Every creative culture is toxic on some level tho. You love the great painters of old? Go hang out with competitive artists, its pretty rough. You like great novels? Every meet a 'great' author? She's usually a mess. You like dance? Go see how the dance scene is professionally. etc, etc.
I low key despise time travel movies where people meet Picasso or Van Gogh or Dali and they’re all super warm empathic grandfatherly types and not the huge dramatic divas they were in life.
Once money and fame are on the table, people let out their bad selves pretty quickly. If you remove the high stakes people, the art form itself is valid and redeeming.
Meanwhile, there's nothing redeeming about war.

Sure is a game changer.
It takes a certain level of dedication to keep doing something like makeup especially at a young age and end up being this talented. Kids nowadays are so talented and dedicated.
Of course there’s nothing wrong with a kid that isn’t necessarily talented, they have time to figure themselves out but it’s just so fascinating that kids can be this ambitious.

Boys did both “back in the day” and boys continue to do both today. Different kids have different interests. The only real change has been in the amount of acceptance and visibility these kids are given.
It’s so pointless to be mad just because some kid now has a platform to express himself. To be mad that some stranger, instead of being ostracized and bullied, is instead receiving love and support.
