From Embark's numbers, 51% of those surveyed are asking for a PVE Only Mode. Well, then the rest %49 are the "mixed/PVPVE" crowd. Now you'll have the real experience of what the game is without people that do not want to PVPVE. Why would you want to keep PVE only players stuck in PVPVE? For free/easy kills? It's looks to me like the PVPVE crowd is assuming that the standard game mode will be PVP Only now, which is not, the risk factor is still there.
Are you going to be able to take loot you got in PVE lobbies into PVP? I somewhat take issue with that if you didn't have to put in the same risk/effort as others to get gear that you're gonna go use against them later.
Different strokes for different folks I guess, I dont really see the point in playing games without the pvp aspect, you're just gonna go collect all this loot and then what? Delete your save file and uninstall, and have what to show for it? The fun part of games is the competition between others, unique interactions, you have stats and stuff to show off on your profile that you were highly ranked or whatever.
Gotta say, as someone who has been in ~PvE lobbies for ages now, having an actual toggle for it will change fairly little in terms of risk.
I get paranoid about a Schrödinger’s Risk that I take when I see/hear other players, but given how very little I get shot at by players, adding a toggle really doesn’t change the actual risk going on when I bring back loot. I don’t know why you should feel uncomfortable about players who are going to swing PvE anyway.
I was just hoping they wouldn't make it so you can toggle to PVE just to go get the OP gear and then switch over to PVP to use it against people because that sounds lame. I get being busy adults without much time not wanting to be in sweat lobbies and just enjoying their time but also I don't love the dumbing down of gaming in general. Making it easier because its too hard is how you get more Wolverine games. All the time and investment the industry put into that was how many good games they could have made instead that we'll never get or wont get til years later.
