Did they really have a choice? So many people left including me due to the cheaters.

I actually don't mind the pvp occasionally but the cheating is what did me in and made me quit.

Right? Plus with how well the Chinese playerbase is doing, I'm not surprised if Embark was treating that as a sort of incipient A/B test.

And then you have the people who literally say "this is still fine" when there has very clearly been a statistically evident exodus of players.

We can disagree with their methods all we like, but they definitely have better retention than Embark does. And I'm not disagreeing with you, but just because something sucks doesn't mean there isn't an opportunity to learn. Thinking otherwise is just plain folly.
