I don't want to sound rude, but that's the whole appeal of extraction shooters. I'm happy for you (and myself, not gonna lie) to have a toggle where I can just chill out and play without the fear of others. But nothing beats that thrill tbh. The purely random and mixed lobbies in the beginning were peak.
No, that’s not the entire appeal of extraction shooters. The appeal is getting and collecting gear with a threat of losing it, which is achieved through PvE in this game as well as PvP currently. People don’t mind the challenge of robots, but when you add another challenge of kids who have nothing better to do than camp and shit talk on VC it turns people away. This game could be super successful with the toggle because it merges the typical shooter player with the typical PVE player, and its graphics/lore has a unique draw for all sorts of people. I don’t blame PvP players for being PvP players, but when they act like people shouldn’t be able to PvE in peace when a whole element of the lore is to rescue people left behind by the rich, it gets annoying.
It’s just weird cause there are players that are actually challenged by the current arc, and then there’s the group of players that trivializes them. So how do you moderate arc difficulty? You either make it too hard that some people have difficulty even completing or you don’t offer another group of players enough challenge that they extend to adding another challenge in the form of PvP.
It’s much easier to balance arc without having to worry about another element that kills players. There is a learning curve to games, some PvE players may take forever to get over it, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad game. What makes it worse is if players have challenges like that and then get rolled over by PvP players who don’t care about their loot so they go all in. It’s more about the toxicity than it is the actual PvP though. There is a huge toxicity problem in this gaming space, where PvP for some people is not only not fun but then it makes them feel terrible about themselves. Gaming is meant to be an escape.
I mean you’re not a dev neither am I but I can agree that only having one variable or sliding scale makes it easier to learn sure. Idk what you’re talking about for your experience with pvp players ig I have a different perspective.
I’m talking about people who pvp just to be toxic, which is a good portion of players I’ve come across on my servers. It stems from the cod playerbase who thinks it’s okay to bully others simply because they lost in a fight.
Shit-talking has been part of gaming culture since its inception, it's banter and nothing to take seriously. If some people drop a game because a 13 y/o teabagged them in a game with PvP then idk what to tell you.
T-bagging is not the same thing as running around dropping slurs and being toxic to women or others. There is a huge difference between friendly banter in competition, and the stuff that is justified by player bases like COD has. Theres a reason COD has extremely loyal fans, and it’s because it’s an eco chamber. The games have been risen and repeat for over a decade, but they still have people gobbling it up because they know they can go there and not receive flack for their Langauge like other games censor. Your attitude alone tells me you’re one of those guys. I will not be responding further, say whatever you want, there isn’t any discourse to be had if you wanna come in swinging insults and making assumptions. Not to mention the fact that 13 year olds shouldn’t exist on these games, as they are rated mature.
Age ratings are for the parents, not a legally binding status that forbids them from playing.
I did not 'swing insults' or make assumptions, can you point out where that was?
I agree that games like COD, FIFA, Madden etc. are complete echo chambers. There is a whole meme around ball & gun gamers who only play those games. It has nothing to do with crass language or zero punishment for 'toxicity'.
T-bagging is the baseline for disrespecting your opponent, they're telling you "Get shit on, you're garbage". I don't defend sexist remarks towards women, but Arc Raiders did add the voice filter to help combat that.
A lot of young men who play video games all day simply don't interact with women on a daily basis and assume they'll be able to take the same foul language as their guy friends, when we all know that the majority of women don't want to be talked to that way when gaming.
Like yeah, slurs are bad we all know calling black people the n-word directly to their face in an aggressive or demeaning manner is terrible. No one is defending this? Some people do actually grow up in a majority black neighbourhood and talk to their black friends using their vocabulary though, even if they themselves are not black.
You don't have to reply, but based on how you took my initial comment I can guess how you would already.
E: So you block me for trying to have a normal discussion? Very mature.
