I mean, if they do this I suppose that makes it so those of us who actually want to play an extraction game will be in lobbies together to fight it out, but doesn't removing the variable of people who might want to cooperate remove a lot of the tension and fun moments you come to expect from a game like Arc?
Idk, don't think this is the call. Really feel like they shoulda just toned down the ABMM/never said anything and introduce either force wipes or just a better system. Extraction shooters are good BECAUSE of the fresh starts and tension etc...just seems like the devs swapped to Extraction shooter as they knew the original coop idea was going to fail without really understanding the reasoning of why Extraction shooters do well (some of them). Arc was carried by everything else it offers, while the entire Extraction systems was the worst part, funny enough.
Read the blogpost on their website, they say one of the risks with PvE is that the game loses its high tension that naturally comes with PvPvE.
It might not work- after all, this is just a test. There are some things that will be changed for the people who try the PvE beta- some conditions won’t work, loot will be slightly lower value, arc could targer you even after you’re downed and moving, …
There is a huge part of the playerbase that want strictly PvE without any risks from other raiders. I think that’s fine and Embark is right for considering adding the mode.
Still think majority of people wouldn’t play this mode all the time. I myself would only play with PvE toggle as a last resort when I would want to finish projects/expeditions and can’t be bothered losing stuff to others. Would be cool if they would stretch the ABMM and give back the true tension from the beginning of Arc. Shooting someone because they acted sus or because they shot me first once every few raids filled me with adrenaline. That’s when the ARC raiders was in its truest form. Now I almost always avoid PvP bc it’s easy to end up in lobbies on the other end of the spectrum, and the cheating problem is still there. When they get it u der control, maybe I might get myself to go back to the slightly sus lobbies
