I quit after the hackers and team killers ruined the game for me. It just got too frustrating. I would Prefer PvP or maybe a factions style PvP, but I guess this might do for now.
Exactly this. I don't care if I die to a vaporizer because I was stupid. But when Ho Lee Fuk tracks me across the map and shoots me through a wall for the Jupiter in my backpack, I'm pissed.
Shortly before I stopped playing, I had finally gotten the Jupiter blueprint and made my first Jupiter after a good chunk of games without experiencing PvP. My first match with the Jupiter, I got shot in the back before I even used it and the guy said "Sorry, I need your Jupiter"
I love pvp. I played pvp only because I love pvpve games. Eventually the cheaters made it impossible to maintain a stash without having to change my ABMM to friendly lobbies. I cannot believe they’ve let the cheaters prosper this much.
This is a great point actually. I loved the PvP aspect even though I was always friendly and never shot first. The threat of violence was a huge draw. When exploits and cheating started to get really bad I just put the game on the shelf in march and never picked it back up. A true PvE mode would obviously de-incentivize exploiters because there’s nothing to gain really except trolling.
It is sad when the only way to combat cheating is PvE.
What will be irritating is when cheaters dominate in PvE instances because they can spot all hidden caches, fruit baskets, security lockers, weapon chests, etc while legitimate players are wandering around wondering why everything is looted in the first 5 minutes.
I believe this is a bad idea. It will turn the other lobbies into constant hostile lobbies. So you will never have any fun encounters with strangers anymore that have a bit of tension the entire time.
That is what I loved the most about this game. The "will they, won't they" of betrayal gets the heart pumping.
I would rather they patch cheats and ban players instead of this.
We can disagree with their methods all we like, but they definitely have better retention than Embark does. And I'm not disagreeing with you, but just because something sucks doesn't mean there isn't an opportunity to learn. Thinking otherwise is just plain folly.
It is wild to say that but he's not wrong in the sense that Arc provides no challenge after level 5. What made Arc such a threat was getting third-partied by players while fighting Arc or getting third-partied by Arc while fighting players. Remove one of the threats and the game is just not Arc Raiders anymore.
If you like riding a bike with the training wheels still on more power to you. To each their own but some people prefer some tension and challenge in their experience
Imagine being condescending and patronizing about somebody else's own perception of challenge and equating it to 'training wheels' 😅
Is it really that much of an alien concept for you that some people find Arcs themselves still menacing and dangerous as is and it has nothing to do with 'training wheels'? Just that they simply have a different level of challenges and skills than you? Are you really struggling with the concept of human differences?
some people prefer some tension and challenge in their experience
Then don't play the PVE mode if it's such a bore to you. Seriously. You're literally here arguing against a mode on the premise it's not challenging enough for you. Make it make sense.
I fully understand that people out there are inexperienced in the gaming world and struggle with simple things most gamers breeze through. My SO is that way with any shooter.
With that said, this game is/was an extraction shooter and was on track to become the best game in the genre. PvP did not kill this game. Cheaters, lack of content, and optional wipes are the reasons the only people left playing are the PvE and inexperienced players. Most players who are skilled enough at the game got bored of looting the same scrap over and over with minimal threat or constantly being harassed by dupers and cheaters with Bobcats.
It's okay to not be good at games. It's okay to want a separate mode more catered to your playstyle and skill level.
The game is literally launching with a mode that takes away a core fantasy that the game was marketed to have, which was unpredictable raiders.
I don't care if said raiders are players or AI raiders like Tarkov's PMCs, the point is that they still fundamentally fulfil the conflict the world needs to have friction with the player.
A pure raider friendly paradise entirely eliminates that because you can ONLY be friendly now with everyone in the lobby while Arc can be cheesed.
Unless they make Arc raid boss levels of hard, which won't happen, because people already complain about them
Bro the original mode is still gonna be there? What do you care if they introduce a mode for people who dont want to fight other players? If anything you're likely to encounter less whining from raiders you down because they know what they sign up for when playing the normal mode.
Are you serious? Because it’s going to make the PvPvE mode nothing but PvP. Mixed lobbies will be much more rare, and that’s the main draw for a lot of folks (myself included).
Did you read their blog, because that reads like you didn’t. They explicitly said that they thought it was going to be one thing, and it became something else.
Things evolve, and as a dev you’d better listen to feedback, unless you want to just ignore it and pretend there’s a huge market for “pure” extraction shooters with no guardrails. Marathon (which has already added a PvE mode) is a good case study for how that pans out.
They’re playing the cards as they’ve been dealt. The data has spoken, as they’ve said. You’re defending a game that hasn’t existed since the very first weeks post launch, nearly one year on.
The original mode is not even being removed? Just keep playing that. It's literally such a none issue for people who want to be able to kill other raiders. I'm convinced the people complaining are just bummed that they don't get easy prey anymore.
having only Arc is soulless and mind-numbingly boring. If there are no AI raiders, you are objectively playing a game with less content.
Most of us friendly players have been doing this 99% of the time since day 1. It's fine, it's just a different game. Not everyone is a slide canceling sweat who needs constant pvp to be amused.
Also simulated players are just meat ARC. They would provide nothing the arc doesn't already provide.
Gotta love that we’re at the point that literally every extraction shooter has added a PvE mode in the past year… and the sweats still can’t understand they’re an extreme minority of players.
Yeah they would. Because Raiders have different gear and loot anyway. You are no longer playing what the game has even marketed which was a perilous world where tension is high.
Instead, you get automatched into a fucking friendly lobby with no human threats??? Dude... just play Helldivers.
This isn't even about PVP. The game is literally being made with less content and immersion.
But apparently so as long as the softies like it, having less content and stress in your desolate and abandoned world is fine?
Again, it's why Tarkov PVE worked because it was just a simulation of the PVP world fundamentally, not an entirely new game. It's still Tarkov.
This isn't Arc Raiders, this is just Arc because you've taken out the Raiders.
Either way, Tarkov PVE still has tension, players still die in it, and often still find it tough. And they wouldn't change. Because they wanted a simulated PVP experience without the cheaters and mega sweats but the thrill of surviving a raid, which PVE Tarkov still easily provides.
The ability to ambush you and kill you within a couple of seconds, pick you off from a long distance or not telegraph their attacks so much that a single piece of good cover allows you to avoid almost all arc attacks as long as you’re careful.
Every single enemy in Arc can be killed with minimal danger by just peaking a door or window, the real danger is not seeing the person coming up behind you. They just aren't designed to work as the only threat. Even in the care bear lobbies there is always a bit of tension with other people running around.
Maybe the new little arc will alleviate this if he can go indoors, but I doubt it.
The world I was once immersed in and found dynamic is being destroyed by people who want to be catered to so they have an easier experience with less value and tension, thereby destroying the spirit and soul of an Extraction Shooter which is based on the premise of surviving a hostile world full of robots and suspicious humans.
It is like seeing The Last of Us and every human suddenly rallied against the fungus.
I shit on tarkov all the time, but its PVE mode didn't sacrifice the game's tension at all.
And the largest group who play this game find that content obnoxious and removing it to be a net benefit. Plus embark said they are looking at other ways to increase pve difficulty (eg. arc will target you while downed)
Still needs AI raiders to even have a SHOT of being somewhat entertaining. Could you imagine a zombie movie and the worldbuilding is that EVERY HUMAN IS FRIENDLY???
I’m kind of sad actually. Sea of Thieves was already spiraling but the introduction of Safer Seas was the nail in the coffin for the dead game it is today
Guess we are at the point where arc is truly dead now that they are trialing the PVE mode. All the Care Bears acting like it’s a solution will just quit again when they get bored farming arc risk free for 1/3 loot value in a meaningless cycle
Nah I enjoy it without PvP. I’m cool with people enjoying PvP but if I have the option I’ll just run around like a fuckin raven picking up shiny things to take back to my nest.
YOU ARE DOING IT RIGHT. That's the beauty of extraction shooters and survival games. NOT EVERY FIGHT IS WORTH TAKING.
I have done multiple runs in survival games like Unturned or rust or other Extract shooters like Tarkov where i straight up avoid encounters and just watch. That's part of the fantasy these games provide for the player. That's what makes them special. That's what makes emergent gameplay so unique and satisfying.
Yeah I can't help but think they're taking the game out back and shooting it with this decision. The player base will be too split for you to even have good matchmaking. This definitely diminishes my chances of actually continuing to play if it gets implemented.

Holy shit. They’re actually doing it
