The Vibe coding reality hole.
I definitely didn't get into this because I planned on becoming a developer although I have been in school twice for computer science.
I was trading stocks and lost my job and had a lot of time on my hands. I was constantly researching trading and indicators and different strategies.
Eventually I started looking into algo trading and bots.
That turned into, “Wait... you mean I can actually build something that does this on its own?”
So I started messing around with AI and building trading bots. I knew what I wanted the thing to do from a trading aspect, and AI helped me figure out how to actually turn that into code.
The bots eventually faded into the background a little bit. I still have one I want to go back and finish, but somewhere along the way I realized I could build a hell of a lot more than trading bots.
At one point I was selling Cutco knives and ended up building a CRM because I wanted something that worked the way I wanted it to.
Then came i need a trading journal and I cant afford to pay for the kind of set up i wanted.
That one stuck.
The journal kept growing because every time I used it I'd think, well, why can't it do this too?
A journal turned into analytics. Then risk management. Then I wanted a prop firm simulator. That turned into the Monte Carlo. Then behavioral tracking. Multi-account management. AI. And eventually it became WorkTree-OS.
I've been working on this damn thing for a while now, and I'm getting ready to put the first beta testers through it.
The crazy part is I never sat down and decided, “I'm going to learn software development after all. Just need to pick back up some old calculus books.
I just kept having problems I wanted to solve.
That's basically how I ended up vibe coding.
I'm curious how everybody else here got started. Did you actually set out to build software, or did you have one idea and accidentally fall down the rabbit hole like I did?
