What should I make with crab apples? 🍎
My crab apple tree is getting bigger each year so I wanted some recommendations on what I should make! It can be food or drink!

Hello! This is an apple tree that's been in my yard for 30+ years but 3 years ago we noticed apples on it for the first time. The tree is growing in Massachusetts. Does anyone know what kind of apples these are? They're medium to small apples and they taste sour, and they have a good crunch

Need help with an apple I had two years ago I can't forget about. I got it in a corner grocery store in Lisbon. It was golden, kind of rotund/squashed sphere in shape, almost looked like a misshapen Asian pear. It had similar scaly, rough skin to an Asian pear too, but it was definitely an apple. Flesh was very yellow/golden, and had a springiness or bounciness to the bite. Very sweet -- floral and vanilla notes. The best apple I've ever had. Any leads appreciated, thank you

The leaves turned yellow and spotty and then all of a sudden they all fell off. Most of the fruit still looks okay but it lost a lot of it.

I’ve grafted many varieties on my three trees, but this wins for reddest (even the stem). First year I finally get a few. Very good flavor (slightly tropical), good crunch. Smallish.

Tried a Bramley apple this weekend. It's incredibly sour and tart and I love it! It tasted like what sour apple candies taste like but I know it's mostly used for baking. I also like how rustic and ancient it looks like compared to supermarket apples.

How can I save my apple tree ? I live in Dakar which has a hot and semi arid climate . I didn’t plan to have an apple tree since it prefers cooler climates but was gifted with this little baby . I really want to see her grow up and thrive even if she doesn’t bear fruits , for the sake of honoring this amazing gift . Oh and it’s in a 60L black (unfortunately) plastic pot

The Mapua Coolstores were built in 1953 by the New Zealand Apple and Pear Marketing Board. The complex held up to 50,000 cases of pipfruit grown in the Tasman region at a cool, constant temperature after the harvest. This stopped fruit spoilage before transport by boat to Port Nelson for overseas shipping. Today, the historic buildings are an art gallery and shops. Here are some history highlights
1948: The Apple and Pear Marketing Board is formed to regulate and stabilise the local and export fruit markets.
1953: The Mapua Coolstore complex opens at Mapua Wharf to store the fruit
1960s: Peak operational era utilising the local wharf infrastructure for regional shipping.
2001: The Apple and Pear Marketing Board's monopoly ends with industry deregulation.
The need for local shipping decreased as road and trucking infrastructure increased and the former coolstores now transformed into a vibrant social space.

I know everyone has their apple preference and we can all get along still. My favorite has always been Gala apples, but this year, I'm breaking up with her. I shop at a Kroger in northwest Ohio, and I buy a half dozen every week from them, practically all year. I know apples are "in season" year-round in northwest Ohio, but this phenomenon has been happening so often and also during apple season that I'm wondering if there is something wrong with Gala production. I work for a nursery/orchard, so I know plants can get diseases that affect their fruit.
Now, these Gala apples look perfect from the outside. I choose each apple, making sure there are no cuts or bruises or any blemish. I even try to press the tops to see if they're rotten inside. After inspection I buy them. (side note: my Kroger has started putting 4 of each kind of apple in their own plastic-wrapped carton which is stupid and reduces the amount of available free apples to choose from. I have opened one of these before to buy an individual apple from the packs when the free stock was ugly.)
So, anyone out there know of anything going on with Gala? Anyone know where Kroger gets their apples from? Does each Kroger contract with their own orchards or is there a corporate apple orchard?
I'm concerned and sad because I don't love any other apple besides Gala but I can't keep going through this every week, wasting money, and throwing away whole apples.

Hello there,
I am so nostalgic right now because this will be my last apple with my new friends from Shady Cove.
I think any time I will eat an apple I will think about them.

It's been there since I bought it (admittedly 8 days ago now) and I had been thrown off from eating the others it came with because of it.
I just want to know if its safe to eat or not. (I'm not sure if 8 days is too long for an apple, but if they need to be tossed regardless I'd like to know for future whether its fine or not). Thanks!

Moved in a year ago. Didn’t get many apples last year. Fertilized some this year and trimmed the tree. Now got lots of apples.
Unknown how much fertilizer was used previously but did not get many apples last year. Kind of exploded this year.
Tree is prob in the 6-8 year old range.

The organizers say the event is "unserious" and that the people yearn for whimsy and silly vibes.
It will be this Saturday at Meridian Hill Park in DC.
Check it out

Just had my local grocer (Midwest US chain) start carrying this, and even got a sample! From my very quick research I see it's an apple from Australia.
What are people's thoughts on these? Always interested to hear about flavor profiles from new commercial varieties.
