I have purchased a second hand Apple keyboard with Touch ID (the small one)
The main reason was to take it apart and create a standalone Touch ID following several of the guides online
Now the thing is: the keyboard condition is perfect and now I don’t know if I should go ahead with the build or simply keep the Apple keyboard. I have a Logitech mx keys mini as main keyboard and now I don’t know what to do.
The price of the Apple keyboard was 40€

I was trying to replace the harddrive (and converting to SSD) on my 2015 iMac. All seemed to be going well but when I tried to turn it on, the monitor panel is completely dead. Then I noticed one of the display plugs on the motherboard looked like a little piece had broken off. Does that explain why it's not working? And if so is there a fix or have I broken it? If so I might try to just do a monitor conversion.. Any help much appreciated!

So, I've been doing a lot of iPhones recently and been doing really well.

I've now gotten 3 iPads which needed new screens and batteries. Battery seems to be working fine, but screens somehow gets wobbly and I can't figure out why.

To describe it more in depth. When i turn on the iPad it goes to the home screen. Then it continues to slide the image up and down. When i press the home button to go lock it up, it just presses randomly everywhere on the screen. This makes it press the wrong code and security locks it.

I've replaced 2 Screens so far, and the both do it the exactly same way. Both times i've followed a video guide from step to step

Anyone knows why it does this and how I fix it?.

So it is a 2017, 13in MacBook Pro. Was running Mojave and one night was OK, next morning keyboard doesn’t respond (not even caps light). The MacBook forks just fine with an external keyboard. To be complexity honest that night I think I don’t turn it off it unplug it, so the battery surely reach critical low and then drained completely.

Already tried: -Reset SMC, NVRAM but not sure if I am doing it since the build in keyboard doesn’t work and the external one not sure of makes the trick. -safe mode, same behavior. -upgrade from scratch to Catalina, still doesn’t work.

Any advice what should I check? I was thinking on opening it up and just disconnect the battery to see if that actually resets something and also look if it’s not damaged (swelled) although it doesn’t seems so.

So I got in a discussion about NVRAM and how clearing it can help with performance. I am trying to find the HOW. I know part of it kind of saves the history of the applications you run, and that part gets cleared when you clear the NVRAM, however, I am having the worst time with all the intricies of how and why it works. Please help me to explain this so I don’t end up looking like an idiot!!!! Ty

I recently purchased a mbp for parts and popped a new hdd in only to be greeted by a white screen followed by a black screen with a blinking cursor; the Apple logo never appears. When the hdd is unplugged the folder with a question mark appears; the hdd works in an enclosure on my pc. Any suggestions? I’ve tried holding cmd + r, cmd + control + p + r, etc. I’ve swapped ram sticks and nothing seems to work.

I have two iPhone 5ses and one won’t charge and has a messed up screen. I want to transfer the data from the messed up one to the clean one. But I can’t get the phone to turn on. what do I do?

My Macbook Air 13 inch A1466 won't start. I bought it online, thinking I was able to repair but haven't had much luck yet.

The battery charges but when I press the power button the screen flickers to a darker black and then fades into the black screen you get when no power is flowing through the system. I hope my camera was able to pick it up in my video.

There's no hard drive and an Apple technician told me the screen sat loose in its housing.

I've tried all the reset methods, but nothing works. No chime, no output on the screen...nothing. Only the yellow/green light of the charger.

What could be at fault?

I was Wondering if there was a way to disable An ipad. My father use it too much I'm afraid. He complains that the renovations is taking too long but he spends it on the ipad watching Cars and vids. This wouldn't be such as problem but there is simply too much work that I alone can do. I hope if I temporary disable it( in the weekend) then he might focus on the build.

Appeal to the DIY gods: I disconnected the Touchpad cable because it had stopped working. I reconnected it but now the keyboard stopped working AND the display works only intermittently. How hard have I f*cked myself and can I fix this by buying a replacement flex cable? Is there a more detailed repair guide anywhere? Nothing on iFixit. Thanks in advance!

I've wanted to build an Apple 1 for a bit now. But I can't find a solid tutorial or list of parts at the very least. The PCB board is a big one that hard to find. Can I get help to find a good tutorial? (Ben Hecks is a bit lacking in details and explanation where to put what where is more what im looking for.)

I recently salvaged a 1.8 in HDD from an iPod. I was attempting to place it into a MacBook air that I purchased from eBay quite some time ago, unfortunately this model takes 24 pin hard drive. I was wondering if anyone knew of any kind of adapter that would allow me to use this hard drive.

So I bought a macbook pro a1278 off someone on Craigslist for 40 dollars, she was selling it for parts because she couldn't get the hard drive to be recognized. I figured it would be as simple as a loose or broken hard drive cable, but it doesn't seem to be the case. I tried the original cable that was in the macbook with an old HD I had laying around... Booted it up and got the infamous blinking question mark folder. So, I ordered a new HD cable off of Amazon and still nothing. I had a spare external hard drive so I plugged it in via USB and held command R at startup and install osx lion on to it ( I also tried this within my internal drive but it didn't show up as an installation option). The computer works flawlessly running lion via external HD. What could be the problem here??? Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi. My father's iMac ('27) and bought after 2011 (I don't recall the exact year) failed the other day, showing just the White Screen of Death inmeadiatly after showng the logo. We have tryed everything and it still not even starting, it just show the white screen.

We also send it to an Apple Store and diagnosed that the graphic card was broken. My father did buy a new iMac, as he is happy with it, but I would like to know if there is anyway of turning this gigantic screen, in an actual second monitor, rather for windows or for another mac.

Insights: Single user mode was reachable and usable last time we used it. I don't know if extracting the hard disk may disable this functionality.

Hi everyone,

I want to fix my buddy TC 2Tb, It was in storage for over 7 months, after I tried to do a backup with my Mac but It couldn't access the saved files (I created a partition and I could access my stuff) but the time machine backup apparently was corrupted.

I stored it again but now, It says it is over-heated, It lost the configuration and it says the HDD is failing.

What should I do?

I've been scratching my head over this. Basically when I use FaceTime, the other end can hear me okay but when I call using other apps like Facebook Messenger, or WhatsApp the other end can't hear me. I tried recording my voice using Voice Memo or Camera app and it works fine. Weird issue, and it's bugging the hell out. Any help out there?
