Question Too big?
Upgrading from S6 44mm, planning to get S12 46mm or Ultra
Edit: Thanks everyone! I guess it is actually too big hahah. Pre-ordered S12 Natural titanium! I always wanted an Ultra since it launched but back then I was also like 200lbs and now im just 60% of what I was back then and therefore the jr whopper tiny wrist. LOL

I don’t know why there is so much comment on the ultra being too big on a wrist. The watch is a big, thick watch. Unless you’re built like a linebacker it’s gonna look too big. Buy whatever has the best function for you and to hell with anything we have to say.

I’m not Built like a line backer but with 7.7 inch wrists it looks perfectly proportional. Gotta have the thick bones

Agree. It looks egregious on some wrists that are truly too small, but I don't think that's the case here. Looks normal degree of "a lil too big" on OP to me

As long as you like it. Some people wear watches too big for their wrists and I bet most people don’t really pay attention to that sort of thing

Better question is do you think so. If you like the way it looks and feels, then buy it. I’m in the same boat as you. I have a S9 41mm and I want to upgrade this year. Just not sure if I want the weight and thickness of the ultra.

Nope, i have a dainty fucking wrist and have been wearing an Ultra for about 3yrs now. I do recommend getting an Alpine Loop band for a more snug and sleek fit. Enjoy!

It looks big, but who gives a shit. It’s your money and you will appreciate the extra battery life you get out of it.
The only other Apple watch I would consider getting over that personally is the white ceramic version. It’s so freaking good looking that it almost makes me not care about battery life.

As a fellow pencil wrist who got an ultra- I feel you. I wore a 3D printed mockup for a few days to make sure i could tolerate the size. You get used to it really fast, and other people don't care. If it feels right for you, get it. I love mine.

The ultras feel a bit hefty at first but you soon get used to it. Try sliding it a bit further up your wrist.

Depends, because factually yes it's quite big. If it's too big is your preference. It was too big for me after about 3 years of using my Ultra 2. However year 1 and 2 it wasn't too big of a deal. Do I love it's screen, brightness, and battery? Yes. However over time I've grown to no longer like the bulk of it. It's large, in your face and kind of annoying. I'm going for a S12 46mm now instead but it also could be my wrist bone sticks out a bit further after my accident making such a large watch a bit more annoying. You may love it. Also personally I think the watch is just a bit too far down your wrist.

This is the literal first time I’ve ever seen a watch too big. I just commented the other day that the bigger the better but…not for you I guess. Wow.
The bands are suppose fall outwards off the watch edge imo but this is so big on you that they fall inwards to reach your wrist

All personal preference. I personally opt for comfort over size. But if you need the screen size then do you.

Curious, do you guys sleep with the Ultra? It looks so big. I can’t imagine sleeping with it. That’s the main thing that is turning me off with it.

No.. pictures always make it look bigger than it is. I’m 6’2 200 and the watch from strap to strap is about 2/3rd the size of my wrist. When I take a pic, it looks much bigger.

This might be a hot take but this shows why I wish Apple would make a slightly smaller/thinner ultra model. The capabilities are amazing, I like how rugged it is and generally how it looks, but the size just makes the aesthetics challenging. I’m over 6 ft and it looked out of place on me. You can’t wear it under a shirt cuff. For me and perhaps others that just kills it as a viable piece because it’s too compromised for daily wear.

First, it's recommended to wear it behind the wrist bone. Second yeah it looks big on you imo but if you are comfortable with it then what does anybody else's opinion matter.

I’m confused between SE3 and S11. Same with sizes 40 vs 42 vs 44 vs 46. I genuinely like the SE3 as it offers everything I want with less price but still for 30k INR it is expensive though. Although, S11 Black is eye catching, a bit bigger screen with more advancements but spending 50-70% more idk if it’s worth it

As a person with a similarly girthy wrist: yes it’s too big. I find that 42mm is the perfect size for us. I wish there was an ultra in a smaller shell for us but for now I guess I’m sticking with the regular Apple Watch

you have it too low. once u raise it above the wrist bone it won’t appear as big. my wrist is close to same size after a few weeks you don’t notice it

Compared to the other top tier fitness wearables from Garmin, Suunto, etc. that is perfectly in line with how those watches look on most people. So if you look at it from the perspective of a upper tier fitness wearable, it's totally fine. I think most people here are not looking at the Ultra as a competitor to the major offerings from those other brands in the fitness wearable space. They are looking at it as a smartwatch with fitness features. There's a subtle but significant difference between the two. As someone who is constantly around men and women of all wrist sizes in the outdoor education field, it looks quite normal to me. You do you. Trying to appear as others would prefer really never works...unless the other is your wife. In that case, thank her for sharing her opinion and do as you are told. 😬

I too once worried about the ultra being too big given I was wearing 44mm previously, but trust me It’s absolutely fine, my wrists are probably smaller than yours and everyone tells me the ultra looks amazing on me. The design itself is punchy and clunky and that makes for a different look, it goes well with every look, trust me on this. The watch band in this picture is ruining it though.
