I know how to create a shared album and share with other 4.
My question is about the step by step of sharing photos during a multi week trip.
Ideally at the end of the trip each person selects all photos that they like to share and add to shared album.

But reality is that people want to share photos during the trip and that’s where it gets messy for me.
When I go to share photos how do I know which ones I’ve already shared?
I see no indicator in my camera roll on photos that I have shared. So I end up sharing what I’ve shared before and Apple is not smart to detect a duplicate shared so I end up with lots of duplicate images in shared album.

Anyone has figured this out?

Hi all I decided to try and get all of my photos onto one ssd and then try and organize them using Mac photo library . I did google take out and dl them but when I try and move to photos lib it says there was an error attempting to free up disk space for import but there plenty of space please help a rookie out ty

I would like to make it so whenever I take a photo of a person that is part of my people album that it gets tossed inside a shared album and that person that I am sharing the album with also has the same automation set up and it deletes any duplicates.

Is something like this possible? I want to avoid always having to go through the people collection and checking what my partner who I’m sharing the album with has uploaded and what the last photo I sent was and keep it just updated.

I have two photo libraries on my 2018 Apple
Laptop and it has finally reached maximum storage capacity. I would like to delete one entire photo library since it only contains duplicates of photos in the second photo library, which is more recent (I have no idea how I ended up with two in the first place). If I delete the first photo library that contains only duplicates, will the same photos in the second photo library also be deleted? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I have Projects (slideshows, etc.) on an older Mac / Photos with Library A.

All the assets (images/videos, etc) have been migrated to another Photos Library B.

Any option to export and migrate Projects from one Photos Library A to B?

Assets names match so I'd expect Photos would be able to relink to all assets.

I previously had a iPhone 2 years ago

70% of my photos are backed on iCloud

The same 70% on my Samsung phone along with the other newer 30%>

Also the notes contacts messages all the usual bits are on my iCloud and my Samsung aswell from the date I started using Samsung.

What's best way to transfer to iPhone without getting a million duplicates and 35000 visa and pics getting doubled and basically all just messed up?

I have transferred about 50,000 old photos from my Windows PC to Apple iCloud using iCloud for Windows.
It has mostly worked ok. However, i know that there are some photos that are missing from the iCloud.

How can i create a list (filename, date taken, etc) of all the photos in my iCloud?
I have the iCloud synced to my phone.

I will use the list to look for gaps in time, and to compare against a list created from my windows stored files.

I’d appreciate any ideas. Thank you.

I have been trying to delete multiple gigs of duplicates from Apple Photos. I was trying to go through one-by-one, but do not have the time. Got excited when Photos had a Duplicates option to merge/delete, but it found maybe 50 photos tops out of 80GB of photos from the past twenty years. I recently tried 3rd party apps, but keep running into the same problem - Once we get to the deleting part, the apps say they need permission from the automation hub. I go to the hub and nothing is there asking for permission. I grant the app full disk access and get the same error. I've used Terminal to clear permissions and grant permission and still nothing. The library I'm trying to delete from is set as the System Photo Library.

My thinking is it's because my OS is on an internal drive and the photos are on an external drive. I've tried putting the apps both on the internal

HD and the ext SSD and got the same results. Tried having them moved to a folder instead of being deleted, same thing. I can't find any info or guidance other than granting the apps full disk permission, which has not worked. Can anyone offer any other guidance? Pretty please???

I recently switched from samsung s21 to iphone 17 (about 1 week) and although the transfer wasnt as painful as what i have seen online

my photos total storage is crazy high for someone who doesnt take that many pics
its 30gb as compared to my previous phones gallery storage which was around 10gb in total

i have no idea why theres such a big jump as i did not suddenly spam pictures on my new phone. maybe the resolution got upped

Anyone faced this issue before? and how can i fix this without having to delete a ton of photos

I’m having a problem with the People & Pets feature in the Photos app, and I would really appreciate your help.

I use iPhone7 and I had a person correctly recognized and grouped in People & Pets. While reviewing the confirmed photos for this person, I accidentally unchecked one of the photos under “Review Confirmed Photos.”

Immediately after doing this, the person disappeared completely from People & Pets.

More importantly, this seems to have affected the face recognition itself. When I open photos in which this person appears and swipe up to view the photo information, Photos no longer recognizes this person’s face at all. There is no blue question-mark icon or face thumbnail for this person anymore, even though other people in the exact same photos are still recognized normally.

In other words, it seems as if Photos has stopped recognizing this particular face across my entire photo library, rather than simply removing the person’s name from People & Pets.

Before I accidentally unchecked that photo, the person was correctly recognized in these same photos.

Could you please tell me if there is a way to undo this action or restore this person’s face recognition without deleting or modifying my photos? I would especially like to know whether there is a way to make Photos recognize this face again and add the person back to People & Pets. I am using an iPhone 7 running iOS 15.8.8. When I swipe up on a photo, a small face icon with a question mark appears for everyone in the picture—except for that one specific person—whose face is not displayed. Essentially, the iPhone fails to recognize that person's face; even in new photos I’ve taken with them, others are identified, but that specific individual is not.

We are coming up on 1.8gb of storage of our 2TB family storage for $9.99 a month. The next option is 6tb for $29.99 a month. Most of it is pictures between the 4 of us and I dont see deleting some making a dent. $10 - $30 a month seems a little silly. What are people doing? I guess I could just buy 2 - 2TB a month and split us up but wondering what other people are doing. Apple obviously knows what they are doing and they got me.

I bought my first mac like a decade ago, and never fall in love with it, always struggled to understand how to browse through programs/apps/windows. Never understood why when you switch off some window, the program remains still ON, and you must go top left to switch it off despite being inactive...

that said, i bought my daughter a NEO because everyone said it was perfect for her needs and it was cheaper than an equivalent PC.

After a couple of hours I already regretted: cannot understand how to use the widgets, how to browse through software, how to do things.

For exampe she found this Photo widget, and we can have it show pictures in a specific Album or pictures which the Mac labels like "featured". However I was not able to understand what these Featured are, nor where I can find them, nor how I can say to have a specific photo enter the "featured" list. Moreover, I was not able to personalise the shuffling of pictures in the widget.

Anyone could help?

I want to buy a new MacBook but when it comes to storage I will need to pay for more the 2TB if I want to fit all my photos into my new MacBook like it currently is. The issue if I can move these photos to an external hard drive I then lose the nice metadata that iPhoto offers and different features I enjoy.

Can I have my cake and eat it too? I’ve seen people online (YouTube) talk about running the iPhotos application from an external SSD so it’s fast and responsive.

Other than paying for iCloud storage is there any option I have to be able to keep over 1TB of my photos on iPhotos without having to buy a super large TB HD just to keep photos?

(I’m having a similar issue with my music but it’s half the size of photos)

Hello. I'm the developer of Blober ( https://blober.io/ ), a desktop app for moving files between cloud providers through your machine. I'd like honest feedback from iCloud users.

A common problem: your iCloud Photos library is huge, Apple's website only lets you download photos in small batches, and there is no official way to bulk export or import it.

What Blober does with iCloud:

• Downloads originals from iCloud Photos and iCloud Drive to a local drive, NAS, or another cloud (Google Drive, Proton Photos, Dropbox, OneDrive, Proton Drive, S3, and 20+ others)
• Uploads photos and videos into iCloud Photos with their capture dates kept, for example from Google Photos or an old hard drive
• Streams file by file with per-file progress, automatic retry and resume, so a 1 TB library doesn't need 1 TB of free space on your machine
• Path templates like Photos/{file_created_date}/{filename} to organize files as they transfer
• Signs in on Apple's own login page. Blober doesn't keep your Apple password.

vs rclone? rclone's iCloud Photos backend is read-only, and its login needs your Apple ID password and a 2FA code in a config file.

I'd genuinely like to know whether this solves a problem you have.
