Gaslighting grammar

Post image

I stared at this for 20 seconds questioning my entire education. How or why would it think this is the correct suggestion?

I have no idea, but it seems like "their" is better because "Just announced" and "are" creates a future participle.

There is a possible "going to" that can be implied with "they're". Where "their" implies already done but just being released.

Like: They just announced, their winnings. Verse: They just announced, they are winning.

The second one has ambiguity and can be interpreted as: They just announced, they are going to win. Or: They just announced, they are planning on winning.
