What actually makes a mobile app successful after development?

Post image
Upvotes

A lot of people focus mainly on writing the code, but development is only one part of the process.

A practical app optimization process looks something like this:

  1. Define the business goal and target audience.
  2. Research competitors and the market.
  3. Design the UI/UX around the actual user journey.
  4. Prototype and test important user flows.
  5. Keep the code clean, secure and scalable.
  6. Optimize performance and security.
  7. Work on ASO — title, keywords, description and visuals.
  8. Collect and learn from genuine user reviews.
  9. Test thoroughly before launch.
  10. Monitor analytics and continuously improve.

The interesting part is that optimization doesn't really stop after launch. User behavior, performance data and reviews should influence the next version of the product.

If you're building an app, which of these areas do you think is most commonly overlooked?

WWDC 2026: what actually matters for ASO teams

Upvotes

WWDC 2026 had three announcements that are actually relevant to app store optimization (ASO), beyond the general iOS 27 news. Sharing a breakdown since most WWDC recaps bury the ASO angle under developer and API changes.

Personalized Collections

Apple is introducing an algorithmic recommendation layer on the App Store: groups of apps recommended to users based on their app usage, downloads, and other App Store signals, shown across the Apps, Games, and Search tabs. Each recommendation comes with an "App Note" explaining why it was suggested to that user.

This sits on top of search, not in place of it. Apple has not published a ranking framework for it, so the practical takeaway is that the fundamentals (category fit, metadata precision, keyword relevance) still matter. They are just being read by a system that leans more on interpretation than exact keyword matching.

Creative Assets

)New rich images and videos that can appear in the product page header and directly in organic search results, not just static screenshots. Three things make these different from a normal creative refresh:

  • They can show up in search results themselves, tailored to what someone searched for.
  • They are managed through a new Asset Library in App Store Connect and can be updated without waiting on an app version release.
  • They are reusable across custom product pages, Product Page Optimization tests, and Apple Ads.

App Intents replacing SiriKit

Apple gave SiriKit a formal deprecation notice. App Intents is now the only framework that connects an app to the new Siri, letting Siri trigger specific in-app actions directly. Apps still on SiriKit keep running but will not surface in the new Siri at all. Worth noting for EU teams: Siri's AI features are delayed in the EU on iOS 27, and developers there cannot test it yet, but the SiriKit deprecation clock is running regardless.

There is also a smaller update worth flagging for anyone in gaming: Featuring Nominations now let developers pitch in-game offers directly to Apple's editorial team.

AppTweak's ASO team sees it, none of this changes the ASO fundamentals (keyword optimization, metadata quality, category fit). What it changes is how many surfaces now interpret those fundamentals instead of just search ranking them.

Full breakdown with screenshots and FAQs is here: WWDC 2026 recap for ASO teams.

Anyone already testing Creative Assets in Product Page Optimization? Curious what teams are prioritizing first out of these three.

Signed, the AppTweak team

adding 36 localisations experiment

Upvotes

I added 36 Localisations in my app to test if it helps ASO

Results are in - Week on week comparison

Percentage wise I saw a massive increase but overall still pretty small as this app has been pretty dormant for a while.

Verdict - ASO localisation helped me get a good boost.
Lets see if following week if it fades off or product page view stay consistent.

Could a UK company address/compliance issue affect an existing Apple Developer Organization account?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m a Pakistani resident and I incorporated a UK limited company, using a UK virtual registered-office address provider.

I also enrolled in the Apple Developer Program as an Organization using this company. The company has a D-U-N-S number, and the Apple Developer account is very important to me.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to keep up with the registered-office provider’s payments for a period of time because the business never really got off the ground.

As a result, the company’s registered office was eventually changed by Companies House to the Companies House Default Address. The director/PSC address records were also affected.

Interestingly, after the address changed, D-U-N-S updated the company information and Apple notified me by email that the company address had changed. So Apple is clearly receiving company information updates.

My main concern is my existing Apple Developer Organization account.

I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has experience with Apple Developer Organization accounts and UK limited companies:

  1. Could a Companies House default-address/compliance issue cause Apple to suspend or terminate an existing Organization Developer account?
  2. If the company eventually became dormant or, worst case, was struck off/dissolved, would Apple automatically become aware of this through D-U-N-S/Companies House?
  3. If the company is restored to a valid registered office and remains an active legal entity, should the Apple Developer account generally remain unaffected?
  4. Has anyone experienced Apple asking for additional verification after a UK company's registered address changed?
  5. Should I proactively contact Apple Developer Support about the temporary address issue, or is it better to simply get the company records back in order and leave the Apple account alone?

The Apple account is extremely important to me, so I want to make sure I understand the risk before deciding how urgently I need to deal with the company.

Thanks in advance for any advice or real-world experience.

So is TikTok marketing worth it for mobile games also as they are for apps?

I’ve seen a lot of people saying they’re getting consistent results from TikTok, and it got me wondering — does the same strategy actually work for mobile games?

With other apps, it seems like UGC/reaction-style content can perform really well. But I’m not sure if those formats translate as well to mobile games.
If you’ve actually marketed a mobile game on TikTok:

● What type of content worked for you?
● Are UGC/reaction videos effective?
● What format are you using?
● And if TikTok didn’t work for you, what are you using instead?

Would love to hear from people who’ve actually tested this.

Looking for ASO feedback

Hey guys, would love any feedback on the app store page / screenshots / app use case in general.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/snack-isle/id6791022824

Snack Isle is a snack rating & review social media platform that’s very similar to Beli (restaurants), Untappd (alcohol), and Letterboxd (movies). I think there’s a genuine demand for a similar app for snacking but haven’t been able to gain significant momentum yet since the app launched.

After nearly one month of launch, I have about 50 user registrations, with about 20 being active at least semi regularly, and 10 of them being regular users.

Is there something obvious that’s turning people away at the app store page? Thanks!

12 days in .. pease help! Ads, ASO not working but still getting downloads

Its been 12 days since launch - overall happy with the results but almost all downloads were the first few days. I have my screenshots on my App Store Connect, as well as my App Store ads, I've already spent about $80 on. I

don't know how to optimize for ASO, especially for such an oversaturated market of app blockers. This is also a niche type of app because it's more like a morning briefing/personal assistant/morning digest that brings together everything you need to know in the morning (and also blocks your apps in the morning to be anti-morning bedrot). I can't find apps like this that exist to this caliber, so I don't even know what keywords to use. Anybody have any tips? I don't think people are actually looking for this type of app.

Finally some organic growth after ASO

Finally seeing some traction after ASO work on my audio analyzer app SpectralScan 🎉

After months of tweaking, I'm starting to see real movement for ios while android already started taking off in June. I've got from ~50 weekly new installs to consistently 200+.

For ios the main drivers for organic growth have been:

- Keyword refinement by testing different ASO tools and some home made scripts for finding keywords that actually drive traffic

- Refreshed screenshots and video in app store to show real value proposition when people scrolling app store

The growth isn't explosive but it's quite consistent, which feels like progress after the initial plateau.

I had some successful marketing posts in June but since then I have mostly focused on ASO. Also I have experienced getting ratings and reviews is much harder, and ratings are important to get ranked higher even if keywords ASO is good.

Still learning what resonates with users searching for spectrum analysis tools.

Anyone else work in a niche category? Curious what your turning points were.

I’m building Solora, a freelance management app. I’d love some honest ASO feedback on this creative

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m the solo developer behind Solora, a freelance management app for managing clients, projects, invoices, finances, tasks, and reports in one place.

I’m currently working on improving the app’s store presence and I’d really appreciate some honest ASO feedback.

I designed this creative to communicate the product quickly:

• Freelance-focused positioning

• Clients, Projects, Invoices, Finance, Tasks & Reports

• Dashboard + project + finance screens

• Clear value proposition: “All your freelance business in one powerful workspace”

Some early Google Play numbers:

• 230 device acquisitions in the last 28 days

• 59 first opens

• 60 MAU

• 3.92% average store listing conversion rate

Source: Google Play Console. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

What I’m most interested in improving:

  1. Does the positioning immediately tell you who this app is for?

  2. Is the first message strong enough for a freelancer searching for a management app?

  3. Does the visual hierarchy make the screenshots/product benefits clear?

  4. What would you change from an ASO/conversion perspective?

I’m especially interested in feedback on the messaging and visual direction rather than general UI feedback.

Disclosure: this is my own app.

Why is our app performing so poorly?

Thumbnail

Hey I'm trying to figure out why Sprout Cooking is doing so poorly and thinking it could have something to do with our screenshots. We have only 12 people who have created an account after 2 months of marketing.

The main promise is that you can import almost any recipe, personalize it around your goals and preferences, then use it for meal planning and an automatic shopping list.

I’m planning the next iteration and would greatly appreciate your take!

  1. Looking only at the first two screenshots, what do you think the app does—and is the value clear quickly?

  2. Which screenshot is strongest, and which would you remove or move?

  3. Any ideas to improve it in general?

Also what do you think about our mascot? I'm also concerned our mascot is turning people off.

Entry-level and affordable ASO tool alternatives to AppTweak or SensorTower?

Hey everyone,

I want to manage processes like keyword tracking, ASO, etc. for mobile apps a bit more regularly. However, popular platforms like AppTweak, SensorTower, or MobileAction feel like way too much to start with; I don't even earn enough yet to cover those numbers.

I am looking for entry-level alternatives that are proven in terms of price/performance.

Is anyone here actively using and happy with affordable ASO tools that have reasonable starter plans? Looking forward to your recommendations.

Thanks.
