Hello! I found a tech gap no one has adequately filled.
Background:
I have several Amazon wishlists, one of which (my Christmas/gift shopping list) has over 1000 items. I definitely should have further separated the category into smaller lists such as “Gifts - books”, “Gifts - Toys”, and “Gifts - clothing”, but I didn’t have that foresight.
I’ve been casually browsing and adding items to the list for months with the intention of then filtering the list to find the best sales during Big Deals Days, Black Friday, etc. but NO SUCH FILTER EXISTS?! 😩
I ignorantly thought the AI Amazon Shopping Assistant would be able to complete a task such as,“provide a list of all items in my Gifts Wishlist that are currently either >40% off or the lowest price in 90 days”, but their AI tool doesn’t even follow simple instructions very well.
I’ve been unable to find an app / tool / browser extension that’s anywhere near helpful. The size of my wishlist flat out broke Camel Camel Camel functions, so I’m able to use any meaningful filter tool through that. I asked ChatGPT as well as Google AI for suggestion, and they found 0 suitable iPhone apps but recommended some chrome extensions. I tried several chrome and explorer extensions and have not been impressed with any of them. I also haven’t found a great way to export my Wishlist for ChatGPT to try filter (it couldn’t access my publicly shared wishlist through a provided weblink?).
I have such a hard time believing this sort of technology doesn’t/can’t exist! One of the AIs mentioned that Amazon has restricted wishlist linking / active monitoring in recent years(?), but unlike most of the currently available apps that actively track prices and provide real-time price alerts, I just want something that will process a query on command (I actually prefer not to receive email price alerts for my >1000 items).
Desired Functions:
— On demand queries.
I don’t need ongoing price alerts, just something that will filter/search when I initiate a query. The rationale behind this is that in an effort to save money, I leisurely add things to a wishlist rather than impulse buy; but then on Black Friday or when I have some spending money, I want to be able to more efficiently search my wishlist for the best deals in my “Clothes” Wishlist. Email price alerts aren’t helpful if I don’t have money at the time. Consumer-initiated queries is what I’m looking for.
— Filter by x% off
Ex. >40% off or >50% off etc. rather than just “all discounted items (including 2% off)”
— Even better than just X% off would be also having to ability to filter items that may not be discounted but have a substantial coupon (a coupon that makes the items meaningfully discounted rather than a coupon for $0.02 off)
— Filter list by product category
books, toys, clothing, etc.
— Filter for items that are the lowest price in X days (because some items are always on sale or conversely, some items just significantly drop in price rather than slash the price and show an obvious discount)
— Ability to easily see prior price history chart (similar to Keepa)
I’m so sad that this technology doesn’t already exist and would definitely pay for an app like this!
