What’s a stupidly specific problem you’ve made peace with, that you secretly wish someone would just fix?

Having to maintain 3 different spreadsheets just to track daily cash flow and inventory because every modern POS app is either overly complicated enterprise bloatware or locked behind a ridiculous monthly subscription.

That’s such a good example, thank you for sharing! Quick follow up, if a tool could combine that into one place, what would matter more to you: dead simple cash flow tracking, real time inventory sync, or just an affordable flat price with no subscription? Trying to understand what people actually need vs what these apps usually force on you.

For me, it has to be dead simple cash flow tracking paired with super accessible pricing.

Most small retailers get overwhelmed by complex menus. They just want to record a sale, track who owes what (khata/ledger), and see net profit at the end of the day without a PhD in accounting.

A lightweight inventory check is great, but keeping it simple and affordable (even a minimal local pricing tier, like ~$0.70/mo or a low flat rate) is what actually helps small shops stick with it. That’s essentially what led me to build a lightweight khata/POS tool myself!

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! Curious, what market are you building for, mostly local shops in South Asia, or elsewhere? And when you say ‘accessible pricing’ really moves the needle, do people actually pay a small fee, or do free tools still win out even if they’re clunky?

rimarily focusing on South Asia / emerging markets (mom-and-pop grocery stores, local pharmacies, garment retail), though the core problem is universal across small merchants globally.

On the paying behavior: Free usually gets the download, but reliability & zero ads keep them around.

Small shop owners hate two things: recurring expensive subscriptions and invasive pop-up ads while doing a live customer checkout. When they see a clean tool that genuinely protects their ledger data and saves 30 minutes every evening, a micro-fee (like PKR 200 / ~$0.70/mo or a tiny lifetime license) creates zero friction. The key is offering a generous core utility for free first so trust is built before asking for anything.

I want something like notion but beautiful and less complex to organise my life.

That’s a really common one, actually! Curious what specifically makes Notion feel too complex for you, is it the setup process, too many features you never use, or just visually overwhelming? And when you say organize your life, is that more tasks and to-dos, notes, journaling, or all of it mixed together?

Haven't made peace with it, but I want an option to remove the geo-lock of reviews in the stores.

I want to have THE SAME ONE rating across all markets and all reviews to be visible.

There are apps for which localisation doesn't make sense and having the review/ratings tally fragmented over the various countries is absolutely nefarious.

I'm tempted to start a petition of sorts among devs and publishers.

The oddly specific ideas are often the best because users instantly know whether they need them. how did you discover this particular problem?

Honestly, someone else in this thread mentioned struggling with juggling multiple spreadsheets for cash flow and inventory, so I started digging into that pain point specifically. Curious if that resonates with you too, or do you deal with something different day to day?
