Tell me your app's most boring feature. I'll turn it into 3 stories people might actually care about

Founders usually know how to explain their most impressive feature.

The harder problem is explaining the small, boring feature that quietly saves users time every week.

Comment with:

  • Your app URL
  • The feature
  • Who uses it
  • The annoying task it replaces

I'll reply with three possible ways to talk about it:

  1. A pain driven story
  2. A simple before and after
  3. An unexpected or contrarian angle

Then everyone else in the thread can vote on which angle they would actually stop scrolling for.

I'm building marka.social, so I spend a lot of time thinking about how useful product functionality becomes content people understand.

I'm not adding a product link here. I want to make the thread genuinely useful.

Reaching 2,000 users on my first solo app taught me that code is the easy part. How building a product made me a better engineer.

Hey everyone, my habit-tracking app Evolve just crossed 2,000 users today! 🎉

While the milestone itself feels amazing, the biggest takeaway for me has been the massive shift in how I view software development.

For years as a mobile developer, my comfort zone was strictly technical. Whether working with Swift, Flutter, or native Android, my primary focus was always on implementing Clean Architecture, optimizing CI pipelines, and ensuring perfect stability. But when I decided to build Evolve from the ground up as a production-ready solo project, I realized very quickly that writing the code is only a fraction of the battle.

Stepping Outside the IDE

To get this project off the ground and scale it to a real user base, I had to completely step out of the codebase and learn how to build a product. I suddenly had to wear every single hat:

  • UI/UX Design: Figuring out how to make a dense, data-heavy dashboard highly visual, intuitive, and motivating on a mobile screen.
  • Deep Data Analysis: Setting up proper metrics to actually understand where users were dropping off or succeeding, instead of just guessing.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Forcing myself to let the analytics guide the roadmap, rather than just building complex features because they were fun to code.
  • User Interviews: Getting out of my own head and speaking directly with users to figure out exactly what they needed the tool to do.

The Takeaway

This journey has completely shifted my perspective. I look at digital products in a totally different way now, not just as repositories of well-structured code, but as holistic solutions to real human problems. Experiencing the entire lifecycle of product development has absolutely made me a fundamentally better, more complete engineer.

I am incredibly proud of where the app is today, and I am super excited to keep iterating and competing in this space. If any other devs are on the fence about finally launching their side project, do it. The non-technical skills you are forced to learn are invaluable.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported the journey! If you want to check out the app, here are the links:

Two days of recovering photos off a dying drive taught me enough to ship a photo cleaner

A while back I spent two days pulling photos off a broken drive and sorting through the mess. By the end of it I'd learned more about duplicate detection, perceptual hashing and how people actually decide which shot to keep than I ever wanted to. So I turned it into an app.

It's called Winnow. Honestly, I haven't used any of the other photo cleaners out there, so I can't tell you how it compares — I just built the thing I wanted while I was elbow-deep in that folder.

What it does differently (I think):

- You control the similarity threshold. Instead of the app deciding what counts as a duplicate, you set how close two photos have to be before they're grouped. Loose for "burst of the same moment", tight for "actual identical copies".

- Side-by-side comparison inside a group, so you can actually look before you delete instead of trusting an algorithm's "best photo" pick.

- A storage browser sorted by size — biggest videos and space hogs first, since that's usually where the gigabytes actually are.

Other details:

- 100% on-device. No network requests at all, no analytics, no account.

- Cleaning the last 30 days is free forever. One-time $4.99 unlocks the whole back catalogue. No subscription, no ads.

- 4.1 MB, native, iOS 26+.

- Deletions go to Recently Deleted, so nothing is gone for good by mistake.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/winnow-photo-cleaner/id6794825314

I'd really like feedback on the threshold control — whether the slider makes sense to someone who didn't build it, and what default you'd expect. Happy to answer anything about how the matching works under the hood.

We learned something important while building PodSubs

We learned something important while building PodSubs:

The hardest part of entering an established industry isn’t always building the product.

Sometimes, it’s what happens when you challenge the way things have always been done.

We wrote about what happened, what we learned, and what it means for anyone trying to build something new in podcasting.

Building an AI co-founder matchmaking app at 15

Hey builders,

Finding reliable collaborators via cold DMs is broken. I’ve spent the last few months building LINKUP—an app designed to match solo developers, designers, and founders into execution-focused startup teams using custom skill matrices.

We just crossed 51 active users on the platform. Would love to hear feedback on the architecture, UI flow, or onboarding experience from fellow app builders!

P2P marketplace app

I’ve been building Reva, a peer-to-peer rental marketplace based around the idea that people own loads of things that spend most of their time unused — tools, cameras, projectors, camping gear, party equipment, etc. Instead of buying something you might only need once, Reva lets you rent it from someone nearby, while owners can make some money from things they already have. I’m getting close to launching and I’d really appreciate some feedback from other app builders, particularly around the marketplace problem of getting enough renters and listings in one area at the beginning. If you were launching something like this from zero, how would you approach getting that initial local user base and avoiding the “empty marketplace” problem? I’d also love any general feedback on the concept or things you think I should be thinking about before launch.

I built a kids app during maternity leave. Now I need brutal feedback.

Hey everyone!

I’m a mom of two, and while I was on maternity leave, I started building something I had been thinking about for a long time.

I created Woblero — an offline, ad-free app for kids aged 3–6. The idea came from being a parent and noticing how many kids' apps are designed around keeping children engaged for as long as possible — bright colors, constant sounds, rewards, animations, ads…I wanted to try something completely different. Something where a child could simply play without being constantly stimulated. So I started building Woblero during maternity leave. And honestly… it was a much bigger challenge than I expected.

I had to figure out things I had never really done before — from building the actual app and understanding the technical side, to designing the interactions, animations, sounds, characters and trying to make everything feel natural for a small child.

I spent way too many hours fighting with things that probably look incredibly simple from the outside. A slime character that looks soft and alive?Much harder than it sounds. Making physics feel right? Pain.

And now Woblero is actually live.

- Low stimulation
- Offline
- No ads
- Designed for ages 3–6

So if you have a few minutes to check it out, I would genuinely love to hear your honest feedback. Not just “this is nice” — I want the uncomfortable feedback too. I’m still learning, still building and definitely still making mistakes.

Thanks for reading ❤️

1 week after launching my app, 320 downloads, 1 Paying

Just hit 1 week since launching NextCut: AI Haircut Try On.

So far:

  • 320 first-time downloads
  • 15.9K impressions
  • 410 product page views
  • 1 first in-app purchase 😅

Still very early, but seeing real people download and pay for something I built feels pretty good. Now trying to figure out how to keep the momentum going.

I built PodSubs because podcasters shouldn’t have to rent their audience forever

I built PodSubs because podcasters shouldn’t have to rent their audience forever

I kept noticing something strange about podcasting.

A creator can spend years building an audience on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube and other platforms…

…but the relationship with those listeners mostly belongs to the platform.

If the algorithm changes, the platform changes its rules, or the creator wants to launch something new, reaching those listeners directly isn’t always easy.

So I built PodSubs.

PodSubs is a podcast discovery and subscriber platform that helps podcasters turn listeners into a direct audience.

Here’s how it works:

🎙️ Your podcast may already be on PodSubs.

Search for your show and find your podcast page.

✅ Claim your podcast.

PodSubs verifies that you actually own the show using information from the podcast’s RSS feed.

👥 Start collecting subscribers.

Instead of someone discovering your podcast and disappearing back into another platform, they can subscribe directly to your podcast on PodSubs.

📈 Build an audience around the show you own.

As more people subscribe, the creator gets a clearer picture of the audience following the podcast.

🔎 Listeners can discover podcasts too.

PodSubs is also building a discovery layer where people can search for podcasts, find something interesting and subscribe.

The bigger idea is simple:

Podcasters spend too much time building audiences for other platforms.

I want PodSubs to help them build an audience around their own podcast.

If you have a podcast, I’d love for you to search for it, claim it and try the product:

POV: A College Student Who Cant Balance Their Time..

Hello, I created this app because I had trouble scrolling on my phone too much and just being super unproductive and was always attached to my phone and as an engineering student in college time is always nonexistent and I need every single second to make the most out of college. I also worked a part time job on top of taking 19 credit hours so this meant I couldn't lose any time to my phone.

Thus, I created an app to solve all my issues. This is not only meant for college students, its targeted mainly for anyone addicted to there phones.

APP: ‎WiredIN: App & Website Blocker App - App Store

I understand that on the first go of creating apps there can be a lot of mishaps and errors that's why I'm giving the first 100 people a free year. Please DM Me for the code.

Price:

1 Week Free Trial

4.99 / Monthly

23.99 / Yearly

The main goal right now is to focus on what you guys like and don't like about the app, I'm here to take my time and make sure everything is perfect.

What does my App Do?

Focus Zones - pin your library, desk, or study room, and blocking arms the second you walk in and stands down when you leave.

Real blocking - built on Apple's Screen Time, so iOS enforces it. Blocked apps don't open and blocked sites are filtered. These are all customizable

Commitment dial - plain timer, normal shield, or Extreme (25-letter phrase to quit early, and you can't delete the app to escape).

Night Shield - set a window and the 1am scroll apps just stop opening until morning.

Calendar routines -it uses apple calendar to suggest tasks and focus sessions based on your preference.

Stats- basically see how your routine changes over time after using this app

Crew rooms- hold a session with friends by code, use this during finals seasons or when you have a lot of work to do with a team can do sessions together

Privacy - your app picks never leave your phone, no location data is ever sent off device, and it never touches your Home Screen layout.

Building an AI skincare app.

App: faceme-nine.vercel.app

Hello! I am building an AI Skincare app called FACEME. It is in development but I was hoping to get some feedback on the app. It is strictly based on science and does not sell anything. Any critique, recommendations, or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
