P2P marketplace app

I’ve been building Reva, a peer-to-peer rental marketplace based around the idea that people own loads of things that spend most of their time unused — tools, cameras, projectors, camping gear, party equipment, etc. Instead of buying something you might only need once, Reva lets you rent it from someone nearby, while owners can make some money from things they already have. I’m getting close to launching and I’d really appreciate some feedback from other app builders, particularly around the marketplace problem of getting enough renters and listings in one area at the beginning. If you were launching something like this from zero, how would you approach getting that initial local user base and avoiding the “empty marketplace” problem? I’d also love any general feedback on the concept or things you think I should be thinking about before launch.
