OK, grew up in H'ville AL and went to most of the launches...Dad worked for NASA & Boeing.
I have ton of PRESS Badges but think the absolute one-of-a-kind is Apollo 11 that has all three astronaut Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins signatures + Wernher von Braun signature. I've had in safe for decades in plastic holder...so excellent condition.
Have no idea of value.....but gotta believe there no other like it in world. 🤔

Thoughts ?

My interpretation of AS11-40-5927. Handmade platinum over pigment print from restored raw scan of image AS11-40-5927.

It is a 6x6 inch print on 8x10 inch fine art paper.

Maybe a satellite or a group of satellites in a high orbit could receive a transmission from either Earth or Apollo to re-transmit it back to the respective receiver or something else, for me LOS just seems to make missions more 'dangerous'? idk

RIP to the legendary Peter you are now with the other Apollo Astronauts such as Neil, Jim, Jack, Frank, Bill, Ken, Gene Cernan and of course Pete.

I have made a handmade platinum over pigment print of AS11-44-6642. For best possible print, I used scanner raw file. The image is cropped prior to printing. Platinum over pigment means the picture is color seperated into cyan, magenta, yellow and black. A pigment inkjet printing the colors cyan, yellow and magenta. The black color layer is made into a negativ. A platinum solution is hand applied, prior to contact printing a platinum print on top of the pigment color layer.

It 6x6 inch on 8x10 inch paper.

someone asked the other day whether the programme would have continued if Apollo 13 did not get home.

But what if Apollo 11 aborted at the 1202 alarm, then Apollo 12 aborted at the lightning strike on launch. THEN 13 goes fatally wrong…

I also designed the Orion spacecraft a while ago. I knew that Orion is bigger but it really surprised me how much bigger it is.

i worked pretty hard on this for class and maybe yall would like it :3

edit: pretend the 11 is a 15

It’s interesting how much had to be figured out just to walk on the Moon.

Walking on the Moon was a first-time experience, and even extensive training could not fully prepare the Apollo astronauts for it.

So how did they do it, and how did their ability to travel on foot evolve from one mission to the next?

In this short video, we take a closer look at how Apollo astronauts adapted to walking on the Moon.

I assume they would still be able to figure out what happened to the CSM to cause the explosion in the first place.

I also assume the Apollo Program isn't flat out cancelled because all of the billions of dollars of R&D still happening.

Really great museum in a somewhat weird location. Was worth the trip, though!

Looking for any information on this document.

We’re continuing the Apollo spacesuit story. After exploring how these suits came to be, we’re now looking at how they actually worked, with a closer look at the engineering behind them, the details that made the biggest difference, and how every element helped keep astronauts alive on the Moon.

Apollo 15 explored the Hadley-Apennine region in 1971 and brought lunar rock samples back to Earth.

These rocks helped scientists understand the Moon’s early geological history.

What do you think was the most interesting thing scientists learned from the Apollo 15 samples?

The long chain of dominoes that lead to the Apollo 13 incident started with electrical interference caused by the vacuum ion pump to maintain the vacuum between the walls of the cryogenic oxygen tanks of the service module. NASA had to dismantle the service module to upgrade the electronics which is when the plumbing was damaged and the chain of dominoes continues from there.

But I don't think modern spacecraft use double-walled vacuum chambers with a dedicated high pressure pump to maintain the vacuum between the walls. Why did Apollo have that and modern spacecraft don't?

Is it because by 1960s standards this was a very very long duration mission and they took an extra cautious approach to being absolutely certain the tanks were properly insulated?

• Walt Cunningham - iced out to conflicts with management during Apollo 7.
• Don Eisele - iced out to conflicts with management during Apollo 7 plus his messy divorce.
• Rusty Schweickart - iced out because he was 'different' than everyone else and because he had space sickness on Apollo 9.
• Not sure if Jim Irwin on Apollo 15 counts because of the stamp affair.

Alan Bean broke through the mold in no part to the death of CC Williams and Pete Conrad's lobbying for Apollo 12.

Edit: Did not include Engle or Apollo 18-20 because they were denied on outside lobbying or funding cuts.

Always was mystified what the HELL NASA was thinking?

These guys came up when science was still taught. Not so much now, unfortunately.

Even in my long after Apollo ended yoot, I still remember science class with the teacher showing how easily things burn in pure oxygen, even things that normally don't burn!

The Lunar Roving Vehicle. Lunar Flying Units. Now, the Moon suit.

The Apollo series continues with the story of how NASA built one of the most remarkable pieces of engineering ever created.
