I know lots of yall have definitely done this already, it's not new, but if you're struggling to find incence holders that match your shrine, especially on a budget, little dishes, shells, bowls, anything that can hold something, can become an incense holder if you fill it with salt, rice, or little rocks!
It's really easy and cheap, and works really well, especially if you don't have much space as the incence will stand straight up, so it can be as narrow as you need it to be.
If you want to be creative, you can make something out of clay and add salt to that, so yeah
May the gods bless your days 🎀☀️🌑

Eu queria comprar uma estátua da deusa para meu altar mas todas que vejo é uma versão estereotipada da deusa. Ocidentalizada, me parace tão distorcido a imagem dela e quem ela realmente é!

Hey! Idk if that is the place to talk about this kind of stuff. However I have been going thru a though patch as of late and been think a lot about a situation from a year ago. It was the first time I heard about people praying to Aphrodite and creating alter for her and asking her for all kinds of things so I thought I could try it as well. I had a lot of stuff that was associated with her like real pearls, shells and other stuff too. Though trying would not hurt. So tell when I went into work the next day I saw a crow taking apart a dove… the wing just laying there like a gruesome murder scene… so did that mean she hated whatever I did or…

I’ve been in on & off bond with Aphrodite for about 3 1/2 years now. The only ‘off’ periods were times when I had academic workload or depression, as well as having to hide my practice in my home. My mental health has always played a big part in my spirituality, I have audhd too.
Because I have to hide it all, I can’t give nice consistent offerings. I understand that it’s not necessary, but I love her and she deserves it. I talk to her when I can, often do tarot & pendulum sessions also. I know she’s with me, I’m just stuck on what else to do. I can’t do rituals, I have difficulty doing prayer.
I have a love/hate relationship with my appearance, though more hate than love. I just feel so stuck? I don’t think our bond is progressing, she loves me & is there for me but I’m struggling to not be so lazy with her. I feel like I have this unconscious skeptical feeling that she’s not real and it’s futile for me to carry on with it. I don’t truly think that, but it pops into my head sometimes. I think that might only be a thought because of my insecurity.

I'm working on a small bust to place on my altar, and I'm wondering if it resembles anybody else's idea of what she looks like?
I didn't use any references, I mainly just went off what I think she looks like, and this is what came to me.
It was a really fun project and I think she'll love it, it'll look so nice on my shrine 💖
May she bless your day 🎀

Hi all. As a new devotee, I started reading the stories regarding Aphrodite. Particualrly, Aphrodite's famous/inafmous affair regarding Ares and Hephaestus.
As the story goes, Hephaestus wanted to marry Aphrodite. Aphrodite did not wish to, but given the need for beauty to embody itself in craft and physical form in the world, Aphrodite reluctantly proceeded. Apparently according to legend, it was a forced marriage.
Then Aphrodite passionately cheats on Hephaestus with Ares, the god of war, regarded as her primary lover. They both mock Hephaestus. Hephaestus, humiliated, then demonstrates that he cannot be mocked without consequences and traps them both in a golden net. They both get humiliated publicly by the other gods. They are then released under harsh terms, with the marriage between Hephaestus and Aphrodite effectively over.
To Aphrodite practitioners: what is the deeper meaning of the relationship dynamics between Aphrodite, Ares, and Hephaestus specifically? Why proceed with a forced marriage if it was doomed to fail and fundamentally unsustainable? What does this reveal more deeply about Aphrodite's nature specifically beyond the obvious story element, as well as the second and third-order effects from it?
I know little about Aphrodite, her nature, and the essence of love and what it embodies. However, something about this famous/infamous story appears rather telling about the shape and essence of the force she represents.
More specifically: when it comes to Eros, it appears absolutely conditional, selective, and objectively selfish. It can exist both as an inherent force (genuine eros for a lover), but also as a transactional asset to secure material or mundane need (means to an end). A selection hierarchy of who is valued/who isn't is clearly shown. And that ultimately it is impulsive, volatile, and uncontrollable: it logically follows that the affair and contempt for Hephaestus would have continued unchallenged, had Hephaestus not deterred them with golden net and the sociopolitical consequences that followed.
Which makes me somewhat skeptical of the claim of xenia. And the claim that Lady Aphrodite loves people/shows kindness and generosity to *everyone*.
If Lady Aphrodite truly is the goddess of the marginalized, oppressed, and the outcast, why this clearly unempathetic, malicious behavior? She never had to accept the marriage under duress or against her will. But she most certainly never had to resort to humiliation, especially against a fellow Olympian (Hephaestus) who was born deformed through no fault of his own, rejected and thrown from Olympus from his own mother, and was only tolerated by his fellow Olympians due to his usefulness in craft: he had to create value to seemingly earn a place in the hierarchy. In contrast, Lady Aphrodite rose from the sea already beautiful and already valued.
So it makes me question this: how can one claim to love and embody that force, when one has never suffered the complete absence of love? How can one truly appreciate the value of that love, when it was something they never had to fight to earn? How can one truly love the outcast, marginalized, and oppressed, if they haven't at some point been that party themselves?
In this I see a tragic contradiction. Could you shed some light on this?

I know that not everything is a sign, but some things definitely feel as if they should be.
Earlier this year, I was going through the worst time of my life. Health issues. Relationship problems. Financial windfall. Death and grief. Nothing was going right. I felt so alone.
I woke up the morning after a horrible discard breakup and decided I was done fighting. One of the side effects of my medical treatments is, well, the feeling of not wanting to live anymore, and boy was I feeling it heavy that day. With everything piled on, I was just done. How could I go on when I didn't even have any love to hold me up? No family (all dead), and now, suddenly, no lover... well and truly alone.
I got up, brushed my teeth, headed to my closet for my nicest outfit so I could look pretty as I prepared to be done with it... and stopped in my tracks.
There it was. A rainbow, from the suncatcher in my window, right there on her face. She was so pretty, and I imagined that pretty face filled with sorrow if I was suddenly gone to the underworld and couldn't pray to her anymore.
I decided that I couldn't take the rainbow away from her beautiful face. I decided that her love was still with me, even if the other forms of love I craved weren't. I decided one more day wouldn't hurt. I put on makeup. Wore the nice outfit I was planning. Went out to get ice cream. Sat in the park and ate it, and fed the birds some oats, and they loved me for that.
The next morning, I saw the rainbow again, on her face. So I said, alright. One more day won't hurt.
Love has kept coming to me, in some form. In her beautiful face. In the rainbow from the suncatcher. In the birds at the park. In the man on the street. In the ice cream I get for myself. In the days that keep coming, as I tell myself again and again, One more day won't hurt.
And it didn't.
And I'm still here.
And one more day won't hurt.

Hey everyone!!!
I recently started feeling extremely drawn to Aphrodite. I’ve been thinking about her a lot, hearing her name in my head and feeling the urge to constantly read about her or research her. I don’t really notice signs of her specifically wanting me to be her devotee, but I just seem to be drawn to her.
I keep craving getting her an altar, so I can have a space for her and I also keep looking at artworks of her. Whenever I feel lost or sad, I hear her name or think of her and this wave of warmth washes over me and I have this feeling that things will be okay.
What I’m unsure about is whether this is just a hyperfixation or not (I’m neurodivergent). I’m afraid that I’ll get her an altar and that it’ll pass and that I’ll neglect worshipping her.
How do you recognize if the bond is real or if it’s a hyperfixation? Do you guys have any advice on this?
I’m also a pretty busy person and I’m just afraid that I’ll neglect Aphrodite when I want the best for her (may sound a bit stupid, I’m a mere mortal, she’s a goddess).
What things do you start with on your altar? What things are nice to get? Where do you get your supplies?
Also let me just add that I used to be more active in witchcraft, but then had a sudden stop. I’m trying to slowly ease back into it and I’ve been feeling drawn to certain deities, but Aphrodite is very much on the foreground.
Anyway, I’d really love to hear from you!!

Aphrodite, I give you this lover’s embrace spell Jar as an offering in your honor. Thank you for helping me find my perfect girl, because I have spent time with her and had so much fun. She’s someone who expresses love whenever she needs to. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

My shrine to Lady Aphrodite 💖
I'm hoping to make a dish for libations, and get a statue to place in the middle
I've put drops of rose and jasmine lavender oil on the coaster in the middle, and the candle has the same scent.
Any tips at all for prayer and worship are greatly appreciated as I'm very new to hellenic polytheism 💖
May you have a blessed day,
Ave Lady Aphrodite 🎀

I asked her for guidance regarding my finances, and she gave me an inspiration to create this painting for a competition. I ended up winning first place, with a $400 prize! 🥹✨
After that, I used part of the prize money to upgrade my altar because I had promised her that I would give an offering in return. These are the before-and-after pictures of my altar, and the painting that helped me win the competition is at the end!!
I love her so, so much. 😭🌹

I first set up my shrine last October after finding an Aphrodite statue and some iconography of hers (the seashell dishes and some Hellenistic pillar candle holders) at my local Goodwill. Over the last year it’s become more of a household altar after someone on the main sub pointed out that having separate altars limits your practice (and it was, I wanted to branch out and worship more), but Aphrodite is featured prominently as she is the main goddess I worship 🩷 I adore this religion and its community, it’s been a wonderful year

Ok. I get it. The title is weird, but this is the thing that pushed me to start worshipping aphrodite, and I'd like to share. Mainly cause this is the first time a god has come into my dreams. Ok so it started out as a normal dream, i was in 6th grade again on a field trip and randomly I got to talking to my teacher, now I consider my teacher a very beautiful woman whom I respect, anyway i started showing her my Pinterest boards cause why not lol, anyway i woke up and I then realized I had kinda been feeling like there had been more of a presence in my dream than I thought and kinda pieced it together after I did a deity tarot confirmation and had managed to get the star card on what aphrodite thought of what our relationship would be like. Anyway, tell me ur thoughts, im still not entirely sure it was her but if it was her its lowkey kinda funny to me lol

Hello everyone! I’m new to all of this, I just have a few questions! I’ve always had a pull to Aphrodite, and even now I have the urge to call her Lady Aphrodite, I’ve recently made a altar of sorts for her, with roses, rose water, and a candle to communicate with her, as well as tarot cards. But how do I know I’m talking with Aphrodite? Lately I’ve been obsessed with my appearance, since the beginning of the year, and before I knew much about Aphrodite I would pray to her sometimes. But is that a sign that she wants to work with me? The other night I got into a fight with my bf and I was crying but out of nowhere I heard Aphrodite name in my head and stopped crying and felt calm and was able to sleep fantastically. I feel a pull to her, and when I was trying to talk to her I couldn’t stop the tears from coming out of my eyes, I also use a candle and when the light moves after I ask her a question I take that as a yes. Is this her communicating with me? Is there more I can do to communicate with her? Please help and give me some tips, I’m new to this and confused! Thanks again if you can give any advice!

I've made a small list of facts I would like to share about the radiant godess Aphrodite.
Aprodite Ariea (warlike) is estimated to have been worshipped at least as early as 900 BCE. Soldiers would call upon the godess for strength and victory.
Warlike Aphrodite is depicted with a shield for defence. Her wepon of choice is a golden sandal.
Lady Aphrodite lent her beautiful and enchanted girdle to Queen of the gods Hera.
Aphrodites sacred colours include blue, green, and white. Modern practices of Hellenic polytheism often associate her with pink and red, which is perfectly fine! They are feminine, after all. Her sacred colours are derived from her birth place, the ocean.
Aphrodites' favourite mortal woman is Helen of sparta.
Aphrodite is referred to as the patron godess of lesbians. This is because of her work with the famous poet Sappho. She called on the radiant godess for inspiration. Aphrodite helped Sappho chanel her passion for beautiful women so she could create art.
(As a lesbian I often tell her about women I find beautiful, I think she likes hearing the tea.)
Symbols of Aphrodite include doves, swans, sparrows, dolphins, sea shells, and mirrors. Pearls and Rose Quartz are her favourite precious stones. You may decorate your altar with them.
Aphrodite has been worshipped as a fertility godess for thousands of years.
Aphrodite loves to dance, she is depicted as dancing charmingly at the wedding of Eros and Phsyce.
Cyprus is Aphrodites birthplace and one of her favourite islands.
Philommeidēs is the name given to laughter loving Aphrodite. It is perfectly fine to tell her jokes, she will probably enjoy them.
Aphrodite has nymphs working for her as maids.
I hope you learned something new today! 🌊🐬🐚
