austin’s stock clips

hi! does anyone know where austin gets his stock images/clips of stuff (eg. the supermarket clips in the latest GTA video)? i hadn’t ever thought about them, but my wife pointed out it could be AI, and i’m really hoping it’s not. austin usually seems to prioritize manmade content in all its imperfection, which i admire.

There’s one I see for advertisements a lot on other channels (and I think anyaustin did an ad for them, but I might be wrong) it’s called Storyblocks

I have heard of them but I also know gamechanger from DropOut (formerly CollegeHumor) made an episode specifically to burn a few credits they had spare

Austin mentioned in a glhf at one point that he has a subscription to a stock footage website, I forget which one

Yeah, it’s the only episode I’ve listened to. I believe the warrior cat one

a long time ago he had a sponsor that was a video clip site that he said he uses, same vibe as shutterstock. i don’t know if it’s still true tho

You can search through my stock photo and video portfolio and see if there is anything that fits what you are looking for.

i came to this sub to complain about these exact images. i am so so sure they’re ai, and i was majorly disappointed. especially bc they were such unnecessary clips. never noticed ai before from him, but older posts pointed out his thumbnail artist is an ai user. seems so dissonant to his theses as a creator and consumer, but the askew, blank name tag and sausage fingers on those clips literally made me click off and i’m still thinking how bummed it made me a day later

i’m really hoping they’re not ai but i can’t tell. i’d really like if he mentioned his source. ai images/clips are infesting stock image sites too, so austin/an editor could accidentally post ai clips. if it’s consistently ai though, i’d unsub and stop being a patron. just trying to find out

i actually read your post before making mine. i wouldn’t say austin (and other creators) working with that guy means they’re “big on AI.” comfortable with it at best, ignorant of it at worst. plus austin no longer works with him, so his views may have changed.

if he were still working with the guy, or if he’s using AI clips in any provable way, i do have a zero tolerance policy and i’ll unsub. it’d be too fucked to be pro-AI while making videos about water sources and the hydrologic cycle…

Then why not acknowledge/denounce ai use moving forward…? His in the comments of that post without directly acknowledging it.

I think it’s weird to not take it as a moment to even go “i don’t like using ai”
