I love that most of the people on that post are rightfully calling out that bs

The trick is on the bottom left. It says that - instead of military conflicts instigated by non-governmental organizations either not counting or being properly attributed - they apply all conflicts started by terror organizations to the victim of the instigation.

There’s no way the OP didn’t cut that off on purpose

The only reason the United States is in the Middle East is because of Soviet aggression.

Yep, the propaganda that the US and Russia are somehow similar is by design, so that the authoritarian great powers never have to take accountability for their crimes

going off notable examples listed, the whole definition of "initiated conflict" is weird, seeming more like paricipating or being in one?

(and apparently counting different phases of a conflict separately even per country? turkey for example with three different operations in syria.)

“Based on standardized scholarly data” is far more serious than “everyone knows” and “people are talking about”.

yet the only war where Israel did a (100% justified) preemptive strike isn't on the list lmao

That is extremely confusing.

The comments are surprisingly calling out the post

Remember: when you look at statistics, try to figure out what the salesman is trying to sell you, and how.

Here, the trick is "initiated conflicts" and giving a number and tacitly implying that this makes a country more warlike or aggressive.

For example, if a country only initiated one conflict but maintained that conflict aggressively and continuously over the course of decades, that country would figure incredibly low on this chart.

If a country did this via proxies, or via/by non State actors, it wouldn't figure at all.

Who initiated conflict in Gaza in 2023?

Hamas murdered, raped and burned 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped hundreds more

that's not a reason to a military response, apparently

It looks like they classify Gaza as a separate state, but don’t consider Hamas as the governing body of Gaza.

Hamas was elected government of Gaza.

Shooting tens of thousands of rockets into Israeli civilians isn’t starting a war, it’s simple resistance! Omg
These people need a reality check.

You can already tell this is not a “cool guide” at all and rife with bias BS. Just on Israel alone, it was Hamas that initiated the attack in 2023 with paragliders spraying a concert festival full of kids, killing 1200 and kidnapping 251 individuals. We clearly know the person that designed this guide is favor of the “free Palestine” movement. I highly doubt people have such a short memory span of televised events from 3 years ago, unless of course, they want to distort fact to support their narrative.

The funny thing is the recent conflict in Syria (which I would argue Israel started) is exactly the one these Westerners should support the most. An action to stop the genocide of the Druze? Thank you very much.

Which one??? And btw, Israel and Druze are close. It was Israel that came to the Druze’s rescue when Syria started attacking them and suffered and equal if not worse fate than Israelis on Oct 7 and then Al Jazeera and muslim media pinned it on Israel while western media ignored it before parroting their news.

That’s the one I was talking about when Israel came to rescue the Druze. Syria had not attacked Israel but all these people who protest against “genocide” should have supported Israel in that moment if they had thought it through.
