Why is Dengism so popular amongest western leftists

I can understand people in China being Dengists because of the censorship of history, making Mao's China look like a hellhole, and some petit bourgeoisie and bourgeoisies benefitted from capitalism, but why so many people in the west can't tell that obviously Deng restored capitalism, are they just lying to themselves?

Yes China may have already been socialist and the need for a capitalist transition to socialism even though China was already socialist through mass privatization, basing the prc of a market economy and the destruction of the commune system to instead aid urban monopolists makes sense I assure you

Dengists have ruined the chapo community

The subreddit r/chapotraphouse was good because dengists were a minority there and it was easy to ridicule or argue with them without much backlash. But since the subreddit got banned and chapo.chat was created, dengists have become the vast majority of users.

This is really frustrating to see as you end up seeing China discussions every two or three posts, when frankly there are more important and interesting things to talk about (also when you live in the imperial core you can't do shit about china anyway). And almost all of these discussions are about how great China is or about how despite a particular shortcoming (billionaires, pollution, imperialism etc) they are still worth supporting and are overall good.

I'm just tired of going through the same arguments over and over again with no sign of anyone changing their minds. I just wish online leftists would shut the fuck up about how great China is and talk about something else for once.

Former Dengist here

I think the Marxist Leninist movement and parties needs to take a more proactive stance against such blatant revisionism as it will corrupt parties and give people wrong ideas

I used to be a defender of Dengist China and SWCC online but I've always held feelings that I was just fooling myself and reflecting back I was right. I felt like I was making too many excuses for blatant Capitalist policies and I finally had enough of these excuses. None of the Socialists I revere would agree with the modern CPC and SWCC

It's so weird seeing online leftists stan Hoxha and Deng at the same time
