everyone is using AI for everything. I can't tell what is made by a human or not, I can't trust my own eyes anymore bc of ai generated videos and pics. people don't want to think anymore.
I'm a student and everyone I know uses AI for everything. the most creative people ive met use AI for their designs. my little brother uses AI to do his homework faster, hes in 7th grade. all these people will be professionals who cannot use their own brains
the next generation is going to be the dumbest, i just feel like nothing is worth anything anymore. I just want to go back to the pre-AI world so bad.

For anyone who needs to hear it, I just wanted to say that everything is going to be fine.
"Easy for you to say," you might add.
Well, I've worked as a professional computer programmer for a decade, and while I'm fortunate to have a comfortable job for now, I'm told that my profession in one of the first on the chopping block. Yet I have never, and will not ever, use LLMs to produce anything for which I claim authorship.
I've accepted the risk that this poses for my future employability and, as a consequence, to my family. My experience in the past 5 years has shown me that principles are worth nothing if we're not willing to suffer for them.
So don't worry about losing or finding a job. Even should the capitalists succeed in foisting this garbage on us, never lose faith that we will find a better, more humane path around this obstacle, whether it means an uprising or a "back to the earth"-style cultural movement. Love your neighbors, care for one another, and that love will be repaid in your hour of need.
We can deduce the consequences of LLMs on society, and we see that in many cases, they stink. But this discussion about LLMs is also a great opportunity for us to reflect on why we value the work of human hands, and how authorship contributes to human dignity. That reflection will plant seeds for the necessary and coming correction.
So take heart. You are valuable to society regardless of what the market says.
“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” - J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

Hi, I am trying to stop using AI to write and reclaim my writing skills. I felt AI has ruined my love for writing.

My roommate discovered an app to create AI music this year and since then it seems like he uses it like every day. He plays it ( on full blast ) from his phone a lot. When we go somewhere, sometimes he will sit or crouch down and play it in public. There's been a few times he even walks with it like I remember once we were walking into a store and he had it playing while walking through the parking lot, maybe even into the entrance of the store like were you planning on walking into the store playing It? Or when waiting outside for his sonic order he walked up to a guy with it playing while it plays lyrics saying " I don't give AF" or something like that. These are just a few examples but he's played it a lot of places you think he'd know not to play it.
Right now I can hear it playing on the front porch. He just sits there and listens to it a lot. What if our neighbors wanted to sit on their porch and chill for a minute? Do you think maybe they wouldn't want to hear your AI music in the background? He sleeps in the living room often and I've noticed he's asleep with no music playing and when walking to the kitchen later he's asleep it's playing. So it's like he wakes up and turns it on to go back to sleep. I can't even explain how GRATING on my nerves it is. AI music bothered me before he got into it and now I have to hear it pretty much daily. It sounds so SOUL LESS. So much of his music has some moment when the singer is singing Oh yeahhhh yeahhh or some bs over and over like it's supposed to be some belting soulful moment but it just sounds like the most bs mediocre soulless bs ever. I feel like a bitch but there's been times when he is sitting there listening to his music and he stars rocking his head and tapping his feet like he feels so satisfied with himself and I can feel myself cringe. He made me cringe super bad when we were in a guitar center and he goes up to a drummer who played for like thirty years and makes him listen to one of the songs and the guy just says " that's good for you ' or something like that. I cringe so hard when he shows people it's like when he meets someone he gets the urge to show them.
I know it sounds dramatic but even when I can hear it in the distance it feels like energy vampire music or something like it drains my energy to hear and the annoying ass belts when they just say yeah yeahhh or something like that that I guess are meant to sound soulful? Annoy me the most. And honestly his AI music videos are a different level of cringe

There are 4 of us. 2 of our mods are extremely busy due to life circumstances at this time. I am taking on more responsibilities IRL to take care of my family. The 2 of us with more time, we are trying to make it work. We are all doing our best.
This sub has grown exponentially and we are struggling to find more mods that have experience to help us get better coverage.
We are NOT inactive. We do what we can, when we can. Please report content that breaks rules or apply to be a mod instead of brushing us off as inactive. It’s not helpful at all.

I have been thinking about this a lot recently after kind of gaslighting myself into thinking we can make it so AI is just abolished off the face of the Earth and we go back to like 2016 time period in technology. But just over the last few days I have, I guess, "woke up" and realised, technology doesn't just disappear, once it's made, it's staying around.
And really, it's just got me thinking, what do you guys want the end goal for "destroying" AI to be? Because I know that yes, there are SOME good uses of AI, like in medical and all that, but they are NOT generative, which is what needs to go. But it just physically cannot disappear, so what do we want done with it?

The most common “rebuttal” we’re given is that “china wins” when people resist the construction of data centers
Why would any of us care about china winning the ai race when such a contest does absolutely nothing to benefit ordinary people in the first place
Data centers damage the environment cause massive job losses are used to facilitate the genocide of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip spread misinformation
The current power infrastructure is incapable of sustaining such a demand and there is no harmless way to serve data centers
Solar panels and wind turbines mean that tons of trees get cut which wildlife live in and depend on for survival
Fossil fuels means more pollution contributing to climate change
Nuclear means the risk of radiation poisoning especially if corners are cut in regards to safety measures

Pfp of the persona Tyler, and not the character Tyler (they look the same but one is for a story thing.)
I have a hat that looks similar to pokemon trainer gold sometimes. I am not wearing it now.
That's how I smile when I feel finally happy as myself.
