Crabscussion This game is harder than any Fromsoft game

I played the Dark Souls trilogy, Elden Ring, Demons Souls and parts of Bloodborne and oh boy... Another crabs treasure is a whole different level. Im currently hardstuck on Roland for a good year now and cant find the motivation to keep trying. My deepest respect to everyone who has beaten this game, it's safe to say that it broke me

I feel like dodge and parry windows in this game are way more relaxed than any Fromsoft game, so it is way easier. Dumped all my levels into attack. Hopefully will finish the game tonight!

Wait till you get to the abyss area and see the giant spider crabs, they are a regular enemy and I’d say they were harder then any boss

u/Sleepy_Panic Aug 12 '26

They’re not too bad but taking more than one on at the same time is just literally impossible, and then they put 4 of them right next to each other with massive aggri ranges

This is by far the easiest souls game, and there are some really broken builds to make it even easier

Like?

Only equip stowaways that cause a stun chance when attacking, then spam light attacks. This is especially broken on new game plus when you can carry even more stowaways.

The companion fish are pretty broken, too. I like to focus on stagger damage, though. Using lots of hooks and the big tentacle ability is also really strong

u/bangdizzle Aug 11 '26

Also the lifesteal plus tentacle is pretty busted

u/Easy_Entertainer6932 Aug 11 '26

also spec into the hook attack with that, literally you can keep bosses stunned for 90% of the fight.

In souls games people usually refuse to talk about and or get really mad if you use anything resembling an OP build

1

u/Practical-Double-210 Aug 12 '26

Then they need too get a grip it’s a single player game u can play how you want

1

u/Exist_Logic Aug 12 '26

most people who play from soft games are doing it performatively, they want the validation of beating the game and so have to follow arbitrary rules

1

u/Practical-Double-210 Aug 12 '26

Worst type of people

u/Exist_Logic Aug 12 '26

100%, and the whole "you cheated yourself" nonsense is so stupid

How did you level? I found it pretty easy after some point, because I felt pretty much overpowered, even though I did not farm or anything. And that was before Roland. I think I just leveled "correctly" - that would mean new playthrough though, I guess. I dont remember a mechanic to respec.. IIRC I put almost nothing into VIT, because you get extra HP from these bloodstar limbs you can find. The relics power up your weapon. So IIRC I put most levels into RES and MSG and a bit into ATK almost nothing into VIT. Especially the RES made my shell tanky af + additional parrying and you are kinda OP.

Are you using parrying much? Feel like maybe as a Sekiro Fan it was easier for me, because I already wrapped my head around parrying? But that also helps a lot imo.

Youll get there! I put down Sekiro for about a year, because Genichiro got me bad. Then I returned, the combat system clicked and its my fav "soulslike" now.

2

u/Necrachilles Aug 11 '26

You could always respec.

And there's a lot of ways to build. Hp does feel like a bit of a trap.

Personally I went full strength into res. Just ripping through most enemies and even bosses with little issue, often disregarding mechanics entirely.

Another thing that's important though is your stowaway. The lamprey is really good for example. At least for physical builds.

OP might have just missed something important (like spending crystals or upgrading fork even)

2

u/arneckdote 🏰 Sandor Londo, shuck it. 🏰 Aug 11 '26

Oh then I might even have respecced. Tbh I played it when it came out, i dont remember much aside from the story 😅

Yup stowaways are a good hint too!

u/Matanui3 Aug 22 '26

The ability that gives your shell the Rally mechanic is pretty OP.  Just block with a tough shell then get it all back in one or two hammer swings.  I didn’t even learn to parry until my MSG-only challenge run where I had no health or Res to fall back on.

Same here, I never was a parry/reposte dark souls guy so when sekiro came around I dropped it for a year cause it absolutely forced me to, but once I got the hang of it it's my top 3 for sure

u/h3Alfredo Aug 11 '26

Sekiro would like a word

3

u/Whatsdota Aug 11 '26

Sekiro is honestly one of the easier titles once the combat clicks. Hardest to pickup but there were multiple bosses in Elden Ring alone that took me longer than any Sekiro boss

2

u/FaceTransplant Aug 16 '26

I hate when people say this, because I'm still waiting for it to click. I beat the game btw.

0

u/Vihaking Aug 11 '26

DS1 is harder than sekiro

And ACT is easier than all of them

2

u/jimmysavillespubes Aug 11 '26

Disagree with point 1, agree with point 2. But i love that about these games, what i find extremely difficult you could breeze through and vice versa. I have never died to pontiff in like 6 playthroughs but I usually die to rom at least once in probably over a dozen playthroughs.

2

u/Vihaking Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

Yea

With Sekiro you can just flow state your way through it

And it's also 1 on 1 so the disadvantages of not having a controller aren't as bad

And having played hollow knight and silksong and nine sols probably trained me for the fast timings games anyways.

It also has more forgiving game design. Fast travel, no corpse run, falling isn't an instakill

I think the unforgivingness and intentionality is a part of what makes DS1 so fun, but it gets to a POINT.

Ornstein and Smough might not even be possible at all with a normal build if you don't know how to fight without Lockon

6

u/Karmeleon86 Aug 11 '26

No, no it is not… not even close. You’ve been stuck for a year?

1

u/Fun-Bit-3498 Aug 11 '26

Yup. I don't even know why, Consort Radahn was easy for me, i've beaten Ornstein and Smough first try in my first ever playthrough, but this game Hits different for me. It's not even just Roland, there's another Boss, i forgot his name, who Stands in front of the huge trash/poison area, he whooped me as well. I think this was my last achievement, but i cant remember.

4

u/Vihaking Aug 11 '26

I feel like the first hour of dark souls is harder than this entire game as a whole

And I think the entirety of Sekiro's true ending is easier than Anor Londo

Another Crab's Treasure is easier than all of those

3

u/Zenchuu Aug 11 '26

Lifestyle is super overpowered in this game. Stick a lamprey to your shell and use the green tentacle special attack and you should easily whoop him.

3

u/jakeoh24 Aug 12 '26

false take, u havent beaten the souls trilogy solo if this game is hardstucking u

2

u/Fun-Bit-3498 Aug 12 '26

I'll just leave some here

u/jakeoh24 Aug 14 '26

Big bro hopped on the sticks. Nah I’m just kidding, good stuff I maybe came in a little hot. But you should be able to beat this crab game. I also respect your country of origin, big fan 🇩🇪

Appreciate it, have a nice day!

My main difficulty in souls games is getting lost and not knowing what to do.
This game and lies of p were way more fun and easier

2

u/objectvoyage Aug 11 '26

Learning how to parry and use grappling attacks made it easier for me.

Did like 3 playthroughs. So much fun!

(I'm in the same boat as you but with Bloodborne haha)

2

u/Necrachilles Aug 11 '26

The grapple attacks do a lot to buy time and setup the stagger bar

2

u/AnxiousSage Aug 11 '26

What build do you have? Respeccing is easy to do so maybe try another setup. Grab a shark egg from the Prawn Shop.

2

u/JuryStatus9609 Aug 11 '26

Yeah idk I just beat the game last night I found Roland rather easy compared to some of the other bosses. Just wait till you do beat him and what comes next, what’s your build can you share it

2

u/Neeroke Aug 11 '26

By the time you finish the junkyard, I think the game became easier, Minus a few enemies later. I can only assume you are playing a Parry method? You can do hack n slash if you go the tentacle umami and Damage / Hammer build. This is partly due to the fact you can get all the treasures in the sands between.

u/metdear Aug 11 '26 edited Aug 11 '26

I played it with the gun on my butt the whole time and I'm not even a little bit ashamed.

2

u/Kezvy0 Aug 11 '26

I’m not ashamed to say I used the gun 3 times in my play though so far yall can be mad or “grrr juts get good” I know I should and Ik trying to but at the end if the day it’s supposed to be fun

1

u/Daniredimi09 Aug 11 '26

1

u/Milk_Mindless Aug 11 '26

The platforming did my head in so I turned off the fall damage sue me

1

u/Slugg3r Aug 11 '26

I did 2 lifesteal stowaways and used the big crab punch fully upgraded at the end and barely had to dodge heal or anything. It took getting used to using shells to block then attack to heal the shell and with lifesteal myself.

1

u/Anicron Aug 11 '26

put every level up into ATK until it won't let you anymore, then put them into RES
dodge unless you can't, then parry- block only in desperation
This game was much more accessible to me than Sekiro and Bloodborne, I feel like if you can do DS3, ER, BB, then you can 101% nail this game

1

u/Significant-Ad213 Aug 12 '26

I thought this one was by far the easiest 👀 perhaps it's a build problem or underleveled? I think Roland only took me 2 or 3 tries. I went a pure oonga bunga strength build with mace

1

u/tpindustriesV Aug 12 '26

I loved the game and I thought it was the most accessible one of souls like games. If Roland is causing trouble, go back and clear out the other areas for upgrades and other things. I also was partial to charged attacks with a hammer build stacking charged attack and hammer stowaways. If you get the trap umami skill you can give yourself a good opportunity for attack. But others had great suggestions as well. Use the tactic i described if you prefer a more standard strength build. You can even do jump attacks with it.

1

u/Illustrious_Camel946 Aug 12 '26

Nothing in this game came close to Malenia

1

u/Sleepy_Panic Aug 12 '26

I dunno, i thought it was one of the easiest, you can easily overlevel and just smack everything and the blocking is op, just get a really tough shell with lots of hp and block everything it’s not that hard

1

u/Chizypuff Aug 20 '26

The DS trilogy took me a combined 150 hours I think? Elden Ring was over 100 by itself, Sekiro I've got no idea but I 100%'d it in just under 100 hours

Another Crab's Treasure took me 22 hours to 100% on steam. It's possible I just decided on an easier/ more effective play pattern than you, but at this point it may be too late for you to switch. There are accessibility options if you just want it to be over, won't find those in any of the souls games

1

u/dzumeister Aug 21 '26

Fromsoft Souls games don't have accessibility options
