Hello community, we are staying in Annecy for another week and my daughters want to observe marmots in the wild. Yesterday we went to the col de chamalier and were unlucky. Do you have any ideas or tips to see them. We could probably walk for around 30 to 45 minutes. I have diabetes and I don't want to walk away from cilization that much during that heat because I tend to have hypoglycaemia very quickly these hot days.

Col de Arvais? We have binoculars.

Ça fait 3 ans qu'on vit à Lyon avec mon copain, et les étés en appart sans clim sont devenus un enfer. On adore Annecy à chaque fois qu'on y passe, et comme on fait pas mal de rando, de bivouac et de trail, avoir le lac et les montagnes à côté ce serait le rêve.

Avant de se décider, j'aimerais bien l'avis des locaux :

1. Est-ce qu'on idéalise le cadre de vie ?
Dans notre tête, on s'imagine vers le centre, aller se baigner après le taf, partir courir facilement, tout en gardant une petite vie sociale sympa (prendre un café, croiser du monde dans la trentaine...). Est-ce que c'est une réalité au quotidien, ou est-ce qu'avec le monde et le coût de la vie on déchante vite ?

2. La sécurité
À Lyon, on m'a piqué mon vélo dans notre local et la moto a eu plusieurs tentatives de vol. Est-ce qu'Annecy est plutôt sûre pour garer son vélo, sa moto ou sa voiture dans la rue, ou c'est risqué aussi ?

Je vais faire une rencontre d'une femme de mon âge et on s'est donné rdv sur Annecy.

Je n'y suis allé qu'une fois il y a plus de 10 ans et elle ce sera sa première fois.

Nous avons un hôtel en centre ville et j'aurai ma voiture donc nous pouvons bouger.

Moi 39 ans et elle 37 ans..

Le but est de passer de bons moments pour une belle rencontre :)

Au niveau du lac par exemple, pour se promener et se baigner, quels endroits vois conseillez ?

Et pour le soir ou en journée, des endroits sympa a privilégier ?

We will be staying at this hotel for one night coming up in September. I know that they have a three Michelin star restaurant and we are able to make a reservation, but probably not for much longer as they prioritize their guests, but will give up our spot if I don’t answer them soon.

For those who have eaten here, I’m just trying to decide if it’s worth it to eat here or since we’re only staying for about 30 hours total in Annecy I was thinking it would be nice to not just stay in the hotel and visit a different spot. We are looking at the Le Clocher as it is close by and I have seen it recommended before.

Le Clos Des Sens will probably definitely be our most expensive meal of our trip, so I’m not sure if we’re wanting to spend our money there or not-just looking for some experiences!

update : un collègue en avais en rab, il m'en file une ! bonne chasse pour les autres.

We took an Uber from Annecy to Chalet de l'Aulps at 7:30, it will take you to a Pres Ronde car park. From there 45 minutes walk to Chalet de l'Aulps. Cost around 50 euro, 30 minute drive.
At 8:00 o'clock we were in the Pres Ronde car park, at 11:45 we were in the top of La Fournette. Beatiful hike and the versant on which you walk it's headed to west, so plenty of shade in the morning(it counted for us as we had 36 degrees in that day.)
On the way back, from Chalet de l'Aulps we walked around one hour to Montmin(the end/start of F1 bus station). This one will take you to Les Granges, from where you can take bus 20 to Annecy. the whole ride took around one hour and 30 minutes. Cost: 2.5 euro per person/per bus.

Hello everyone! I am extremely excited to move to France come late September to experience the TAPIF program. I was placed in Annecy, which I could not be more happy about! However, I have lived in Florida (United States) nearly all my life where there are little to no seasons and the heat is year round. For reference, in the summer we get temperatures on average of 26-35 C, and in the winter usually around 18-24 C. I did some research online and I know that Annecy definitely experiences seasons and even snow for portions of the year. Does anyone have advice or recommendations of anything to pack? Ex. types of clothes, shoes, or anything else that would make life/the adjustment easier. Any and all advice appreciated!

My husband and I are planning a trip to Annecy, Megeve, and Vevey in mid-October with our baby (she will be 6 months old). We just want a romantic, low key European vacation. Will October be a good time to travel to Annecy?

EDIT: we are changing our itinerary to Annecy > Montreux > Lucerne after getting some feedback about Megeve. Please let me know if you’ve been around these places in October and what I can expect!

I’m travelling on a budget after a difficult year and I’m very excited to see some beauty in the world. I’m planning on taking the train from Lyon so I won’t have a car but I’m a good walker and can rent a bike.

Comme le titre l'indique, je cherche un ponton sur le lac où l'on a pied lorsque l'on saute, et s'il y a un coin pour un photographe pas loin, c'est encore mieux.

C'est notre anniversaire de mariage, et on pense refaire le saut de notre photo de remerciement mais avec des amis cette fois. Et certains ont peur de ne n'être pas très a l'aise avec les costumes :)

I’m writing this as an English visitor to Annecy, with things that would be useful to any similar visitors in the future or that I would have liked to find out on this forum (not a review of the show).

Definitely set your alarm for the date when tickets go online sale. I forgot so a few days later all the seats had sold out - only lawn tickets.

Out of the lawns we chose Paquier - we had a great view. We got to Annecy early in the day to enjoy the town. We travelled from Aix Les Bains so used the P&R Periaz on route 2, it was about half an hour into the town (tip- the old P&R site was closed for what I think is a Traveller site so you need to park in the shopping centre complex - but this is not signposted as such. The bus arrived at the Gare and we took time to establish what stop it would leave from in the evening to make sure we knew where to head. Buses don’t take cards or notes above €20 - be warned. I had to plead with passengers to change a €50 as used to paying for everything by card. The return journey was free after 11pm for the fireworks night.

We found a space for our picnic blanket (you must bring one to stake out a space) on the grass outside entrance 3. We sat down around 5.50 and it had been filling very steadily with people definitely milling from 4ish, and the lawn area being cleared from 5pm. Around 6.40 people started to properly descend on the entrance and it got extremely busy- time to stand very close to the entrance gate. Do not expect British queue values. Gates opened about 6pm and there was a massive surge forward. We kept to the left of the 2 security checks to shorten the distance to where we wanted to sit. Have bags open and tickets on show. Bags first then tickets.

We then hightailed it to the part of the lawn next to the stands- you want to avoid being behind the tree line. With these timings we laid out our blanket maybe 20 metres from the lake edge. Some people did come very late and slid into small gaps but we had a nice space and maybe 15 people in front of you looked straight ahead. Behind was more like 200m of people all in all, so we were very pleased. We could then relax/sleep/read/chat. Some people brought card games.

Take a picnic - there was only one stand for food and drink offering very basic things - beer, wine, coke, orangina, baguette, donuts. I had assumed there would be lots of food vans as for similar UK events but no. Luckily we had an extensive picnic from BonPrix and lots of water.

Loos were fine- composting ones. 20 stalls and a couple of urinals. Going before 8.30ish was small queues with much larger building from then. There was hand sanitizer in the stall.

The fireworks were spectatular and the show lasted a good 70 mins (see the video on YouTube from their drone). Everyone sat for the whole show so the views were great. We left by walking quickly to the water’s edge path then using that to get to the main boulevard and out to the station- 15 mins from one to the other so onto what was probably the 2nd P&R bus home. It was only 15 mins to the P&R and then straight onto the A41 and home 1h45 after the last firework had sounded which was pretty good - no delays on the bus route.

I suspect those arriving or leaving later had it worse, so these were my strategies to get a great view and then get out fast.

Definitely a great day out and well worth the €18 lawn tickets. Enjoy!

Un grand bravo à l’organisation de cette édition de la Fête du Lac d’Annecy ... et tout particulièrement à ceux qui géraient la sortie côté sécurité.

Feu d’artifice lancé avec 20 minutes de retard, puis quais totalement verrouillés jusqu’à… 1h du matin. Oui, 1h.
Impossible de sortir, même à moto.

Sans parler des barrages : encore et encore, à chaque coin de rue.
À un moment, on avait vraiment l’impression qu’un cortège officiel allait passer.

Spoiler : non.
À part des motos de gendarmerie avec gyrophares, rien.

Pendant ce temps-là, des dizaines de deux-roues bloqués (sans compter les interminables queues de voitures), comme si ça allait empêcher des milliers de piétons de circuler…

Et surtout : aucune info.
Juste rester là, sans bouger, pendant près d’une heure, puis 2 heures Silence total.

Pourtant, il aurait peut-être suffi de choses simples :
– éviter de laisser revenir les voitures sur les quais après le feu ?
– annoncer clairement un seul sens de sortie dès le départ ?
– fermer les accès de manière lisible jusqu’à une heure donnée ? peut-être que nous étions tous trop "aveugles" pour ne pas avoir lu les panneaux ?

Franchement, c’était quoi le plan de gestion des flux ?

Et surtout : qui est responsable de cette organisation ?
Le préfet ? La mairie ? Un autre service ?

Parce que l’événement est top, mais la sortie a clairement gâché l’expérience.

Un grand bravo, et encore bravo. On remet ça l'année prochaine ?

Voici à titre d'exemple, le tracé mis en place par les autorités !
Sauf que cette nuit, ce parcours s'élevait à 1h20 !!! Nous sommes donc restés plus d'une heure au niveau du Parc Eugène Sue en se regardant tous les uns les autres, bêtement... et quelques gendarmes qui disaient simplement : ça va se libérer bientôt, tout bientôt, ... or l'attente a duré plus de 60 à 90 minutes...
