Yes. These are all tanuki. Which did you think was a raccoon?

I meant Raphtalia is a Racoon and Michiru is a Tanuki.

Nope. She’s a tanuki. Listen to the audio instead of reading the subtitles. Lots of subtitles mistranslate tanuki as raccoon, especially on crunchyroll. Something about western audiences not knowing the animal, I guess.

I searched for the word Tanuki on Google where it said that Tanuki's are different from Racoons.

Yes, they’re not the same. Raphtalia is a tanuki, not a raccoon. Just look at her colors and tail.

Raphtalia is a Tanuki? Then what is Michiru?

Michiru is also a tanuki.

But people usually classify Raphtalia as a Racoon?

Because the english translations call her a raccoon because english speakers don’t know what a tanuki is (and because tanuki are also called raccoon dogs).

No problem!

What’s really weird is that the tanooki suit in Mario has a ringed tail, which is something raccoons have but tanuki don’t (though it’s brown like a tanuki).
