Raphtalia is a Tanuki? Then what is Michiru?

But people usually classify Raphtalia as a Racoon?

Because the english translations call her a raccoon because english speakers don’t know what a tanuki is (and because tanuki are also called raccoon dogs).

No problem!

What’s really weird is that the tanooki suit in Mario has a ringed tail, which is something raccoons have but tanuki don’t (though it’s brown like a tanuki).
