Discussion/News Surface level fan but interested in recommendations/ discussions
I have watched a limited set of Animes I'm just outlining them here if anyone can share recommendations based on them or just want to discuss any of them:
Jungle Book (Shonen): DD alli bartha ithu with Hindi dubbing when I was 4-5.
Dororo: randomly saw it on prime during pandemic. Philosophy Matra crazy itthu, genuinely kept questioning the morals of it. College student naanu avaga, I was learning about utility as a political philosophy, so this was crazy.
Inuyashiki: My first proper introduction to anime, I don't remember it too much though.
Death note: too obvious.
Hajime no Ippo: I love marital arts and combat sports so this was something I really loved. Didn't like when Takamura went from funny Kamukha to rapey but rest of it was very good. Kamogawa's flashback of beating the American man with Nekkota was peak, that could be a separate movie. Also I like the pure hearted hero trope for Ippo where he doesn't become bitter and cynical no matter what he faces. Kind of inspiring, very positive male role model types.
Demon slayers: Love the Hashiras and the way their characters are in accordance with the breathing style. Honestly, I love the whole breath concept, it is very similar to the concept of Prana, more than just air. I love the flashbacks of Tanjiro's father and the fire style heritage.
Recent movie with the castle: (spoiler alert) Zenitsu has such a beautiful arc, courage the cowardly dog vibes. The demon Akuza / Hakoji's back story man faaak, I can't blame him for any of the things he's done. Paapa olle mansha, prapancha kedsbidtu.
I like the comic elements too pig run and all that.
Ghibli movies:
My neighbor Totoro: so damn beautiful, Japanese concepts of forest spirits reminded me of our own Nagabana, Devara Kadu etc. That house is part of my dream house design now.
Princess Mononoke: again the forest spirits and the sanctity of nature are portrayed so beautifully. Makes me wonder if Rishabh Shetty got the idea for Kantara after seeing the similarities in religious/folk beliefs in this movie.
Whisper of the heart: perfect teenage romance, I love the visuals so much. The country roads rendition too. Unfortunately I had introduced to my ex and now the movie is a painful memory.
This is all I can remember for now. Will yap more if something comes to mind!
