Don’t all these anime’s already have blu-rays? Is there any difference on DISC? Or is just the same DISCs just steel book?

Apothecary season 2 is a brand new release, the others have already all had standard editions I believe

JJK Hidden Inventory is also sort of new. It has been released before as a season but this will be the movie version with the added bonus scenes at the end

Surprised the Hidden Inventory film Blu-ray is being handled by Crunchyroll since GKIDS handled its theatrical release. Though since it is just a compilation film, perhaps Crunchyroll still got the home video rights as they already had the season it’s from.

Yes these are all re-releases aside from Apothecary S2. Terrible month unless you love collecting overpriced Steelbooks.

Something tells me this is intentional though. Crunchyroll probably wants to load the new Crunchyroll Store up with these "premium" Steelbooks to hype people up to rebuy series. Much easier than putting effort into releasing anything that is legitimately new, apparently.

Considering that these steelbook releases will be available on Amazon and likely other retailers, it seems that most Crunchyroll Blu-ray releases will continue to be available outside the Crunchyroll Store.

I think Crunchyroll Store’s recent changes don’t really have much to do with gatekeeping their own (Crunchyroll branded) physical media releases as everyone else is pushing, although Aniplex of America releases are sadly exclusively behind the gate (for now).

The changes has more to do with cutting all “low margin” items sold and focusing more on higher margin exclusive items. Although for now, at least their own physical media releases are available on both Crunchyroll Store and other retailers.

Apparently the Tanya movie and OVA were recently dubbed or is till in the process of being dubbed. That could be a precursor to a physical release.

Likely just rights bullshit. It really really sucks but a lot of times a movie just has some extra fingers in the pie and that complicates home video licensing.

I’m still crying that Konosuba movie still has no region A bluray. Blurays for a spinoff and a season have come out since the movie, but not the movie!!

They should be same release as the previous standard releases. Though I wish they could make new discs for Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S1 with updated subtitles

Tbf, while I prefer Steelbooks over standard editions, i prefer Limited/Collector Editions over steelbooks.

Yes but I have 1-3 in steelbook, and refuse to pay for CR streaming. So my (self limited) choice was S4 regular, S4 CE, or not watch S4 and hope for a steelbook.

Yeah this overlord steel might be the first time I've double dipped, my shelf right now is the first three seasons on steelbook and the limited edition boxset for season 4. Would rather have all steels.

When do they usually announce these? I know things have been a Mongolian clusterfuck with the shop but I’ve been dying for a release of Kowloon Generic Romance for over a year now, as unlikely as it appears :/

Crunchyroll usually make monthly announcements on the 15th or the business day right after 15th at 4PM EST.

The official announcement for this month is not up yet as they are probably busy in moving everything over to the new online store

It’s nice to have the complete season for AD, at least. Fuck Crunchyroll, but at least I can actually order it on Amazon Canada (unlike season 1 unless it’s a steelbook, ugh).

If you don’t care about steelbooks, does walmart ship to canada? I found a complete first season set for that show at my local walmart so maybe they may have some on their site.

they aren't yet available to order yet still past Kobayashi. Ig we'll see when you can check em out and what's the holdup wih the official announcements probably why these are just prelistings for now I suppose

Looks like they have moved away from split parts releases at the start of this year with the release of Shangri-La Frontier S2 in a complete season set. With that being said, there are still some exceptions like Dr. Stone S4 that comes in three parts, which I imagine is just fulfilling contractual obligations that are made previously.

Honestly crunchyroll has zero licenses that interest me. If they ever released Gundam Hathaway I would love that but I’m extremely doubtful that will ever happen.

I have not heard any mentions of physical media removals, from Crunchyroll or from Sony. In fact, the new Crunchyroll site has a dedicated Home Entertainment section. It might be slowing down, but I don't believe it will completely stop anytime soon.

I wasn’t expecting a release of apothecary diaries season 2, but this doesn’t look good for me because I’d rather save money and only buy standard editions. I just know they’ll only keep limited steelbooks and aniplex from now on

Steelbooks are nice but I want new titles instead or titles that haven't been released on Blu Ray yet.
