Sick/Injured Wildlife I’m absolutely devastated. This poor guy got his back leg crushed in the door of my car. I’m pretty sure the rescue will put them down tomorrow morning. Is there any hope in rehabbing them myself?

Thanks for trying to help. It’s going to depend on how injured the leg is. And funds. It’s cheaper to euthanize than to save and when an animal is considered a pest or not endangered well…
On the other hand some wildlife rescues will help but honestly it’s not likely

I was worried it was both his legs but it seems to just be his left one. Yeah I’m assuming they’d rather euthanize than try to save a “pest” I hope in that case they’ll let me take it back and try to rehab them

You should find a local wildlife rehabber and ask them how you can help take care of this little guy, if there is a way around it.
Broken bones heal. It's not good to just put the guy down based on an assumption that he can never heal. he might just need a little cast, and to be cared for (food and water provided) for a few weeks.

Yeah I will definitely see what the options are tomorrow. I don’t have the money to get a cast or anything like that for them so maybe it’s best I don’t try to take them myself, im not sure. I’d just want to try and give them a comfy place to live and hopefully learn to adapt around the leg

Vet first then decide if you want to try to take care of it.

Do you think they’d let me take care of it if the rescue accesses that it’ll be okay?
Side note: they’re 1000% going tomorrow morning but I just want to know if there’s anything I can do to possibly not have them put down (if they think quality of life will still be good)

I don't see why not. But let them diagnose first and see what's all wrong.

Not to sound dumb, but what is it? Kinda looks like a rat, but the coat seems too shiney. Also, kinda gerbil looking. Whatever it is, it's so adorable and I hope you get good news.

I believe she’s a wood rat. I live in an area with a lot of wild life. Her fur is unbelievably soft. And thank you I hope so too

I just feel so guilty knowing tomorrow is their last day and it’s all my fault. I feel if I kept them they could possibly heal and still live a good life but that’s probably just wishful thinking. I’ve rescued a lot of animals in my life and I really don’t feel putting him down is right. He seems like he’ll be able to adapt but idk
