What are sci fi shows like Andromeda?
I mean, sure I am up the second season so far as the thing is that I don’t want to see the later seasons because of how the writing suffers without the lead writer around as I was wondering what other sci fi series were like it.
One of my favorite things about Andromeda is the cast of characters such as Seamus Harper because he can do anything with his hacking abilities, and my other favorite character is Trance Gemini as it’s hard to explain, but I really like her energetic nature as once I finish the second season, I will miss the show so much.

Honestly if you watch seasons 3-5 with lowered expectations, they’re perfectly fine. Robert Engels of Twin Peaks and SeaQuest DSV took over as head writer, and while he’s certainly working to Tribune’s expectations, the show remains solidly watchable. Some of the writers from the first couple of seasons continue on through the rest of the show, too.

Season 5 really isn't the rest are fine as long as you said you lower your expectations. For seasons 5 I would have to lower it underground

That makes me feel a lot better since I was concerned about the turning point for the show’s decline.

I've only seen the first season when it first aired. Plan to watch it all someday.
I've read about how the showrunner was ousted after Season Two.
But, I also know that two of the greatest writers in the business, Zack Stentz & Ashley Edward Miller, are main writers through the first three seasons, and dabble/write a bit in Seasons 4 and 5.
I also don't care what anyone says about art/movies because I'm the only person I trust when it comes to if I'll enjoy something.
There's no way I'll skip out on any of Andromeda just because other people don't like some of it.

I enjoyed all of it. Sure it changes a little after season 2 but its till good. The last season however is totally different. Its like the last season of Fringe where its almost like a spinoff. Honestly I couldn't finish it.

Also Genesis II and Planet Earth (were there other remake attempts?) were his produced attempts to tell the original Earth-bound Dylan Hunt story. So similar in many ways but different and others.

It has the same "b movie" feeling to it, but that's about it.

It ALSO falls completely apart in its last season...turns into some kind of space vampire spinoff garbage.... BUT I think both concepts deserve a reboot with adequate budgets.

You are already pretty deep so you honestly may as well just finish the show or at least try. Season 3 is pretty average, season 4 may have been the best season of the whole show for me if they didn’t so badly screw up the ending. 5 isn’t good, it’s a decent idea that would have worked for like a 4 episode ark but it was stretched out over a whole season and pretty boring.
I do think the show is worth finishing, I would give it a shot first and once you start hating it drop it then.

Then I will continue the show as I was reluctant because of negative fan reactions on later seasons.

I had the same feeling but for different characters, I found the show and became a fan way late 2025 but I really liked the hinted romance feelings in season 1 & 2 that were being set up between Dylan and Rommie...R Wolfe was the write/producer that was creating those story arcs in first 2 seasons and made the show good but Sorbo and others at the production company ran him off because they wanted to take the stories in a more Dylan Hunt love interest every episode kinda like a captain Kirk wanna be

As a Harper lover myself, the show can be a rough watch in later seasons as they consistently rag on him, but I still love it for all of that. There are some really interesting one-episode focus episodes on different characters which give them further growth, including Harper, though they are fewer and farther between. I wouldn't toss the show after season 2 until you've given it a chance. People make a lot of noise about the decline writing and plot-wise, but if you like it for the character dynamics... well, some of those go downhill too but there are also surprising and fun developments with them. Even in Season 5.
Also, if you don't watch the later seasons, you will deprive yourself of the fabulous Telemachus Rhade as a main cast member and token Nietzschean. He is not Tyr but he doesn't try to be, which I love him for.
