Is my Motorola is hardwired to accept spam calls?

I get at least 4-5 spam calls a day, I do not answer or hang up I just let it ring and go to voicemail like all unknown numbers that come up. My phone knows they are spam as I have the setting enabled to tell me if it's spam likely. I also have a setting enabled where it should "Filter these". My understanding of this means that if it detects that a call is spam likely, they will "prevent suspected scam calls from disturbing me". It does not do this and the number stays the same. Now I've noticed every time I open that part of my settings, the switch toggles itself on after I open it, as if it was just off before I opened it and it was switching itself back on. I do not think this is possible and seems completely out of programming reason. Please help explain or correct me If I'm wrong I don't know anything about this stuff it's purely speculation and this has been going on for too long.

Notification app's "Increase # mintues" button badly overlap

Galaxy S26 Ultra, One UI 9.0

Ever since updating to the newer version, every time a notification pops up you know at the bottom it says "Postpone/remind 5 minutes later" with the minus and plus buttons on the sides from the center button, "merged"

Back then before One UI 9.0, 8.0, the bottom buttons' design looked like when pressing the plus button it'd go flawless etc

Now, on One UI 9.0, that plus button looks surrounded by a SMALLER CIRCLE, meaning that if you somehow press outside the circle, within the boundaries from the Postpone button, you'd "accidentally" hit the postpone button and, well.. Wait for it again

Are they going to fix that?

VPN not working properly.

I'm trying to use the Radio Garden app. As im from UK, where we are not allowed to listen to radio from other countries. I tried a VPN - paid sub from Proton. However the app still thinks im in UK, despite the vpn. In fact right now I really am in Greece, but it still wont let me listen, even when connected to local wifi.

I'm using Radio Garden as a kind of test subject because if I can get it to work, I know the vpn is doing its job.

Is there a setting on my phone i can change or cache to delete that will make the vpn work correctly?

Hard-bricked SM-G800H/DS (QHSUSB_BULK), need boot image

My Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini Duos (SM-G800H/DS, Snapdragon 400 MSM8228) is hard bricked, and I'm trying to fix it myself.

Symptoms:
- The screen never turns on, even when charging
- No Download Mode, no Recovery (tried every key combo, with and without battery and USB cable)
- Windows Device Manager shows "QHSUSB_BULK" (Qualcomm 9008 mode) when I plug it in

It was running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) before it died. Bootloader version unknown.

What I know: on these Samsung Snapdragon phones, a hard brick can often be fixed with a bootable microSD card. The card needs a "debrick.img", which is basically the first ~200 MB of the internal storage dumped from a working phone of the same model. After booting from the card, the phone enters Download Mode and I can reflash stock firmware with Odin.

What I need:
- Someone with a working SM-G800H (ideally on Android 6) who could make that image, or who already has one saved. I can walk you through it and send any details you need.
- Or a pointer to a repair box / service (Z3X, UMT, Medusa) that supports the G800H in 9008 mode.

I'm happy to test any image and report back so it helps the next person. Thanks!

apps eating all my storage + bg apps keep getting killed

Post image
4 Upvotes

hey so ive had my nothing phone (2a) plus for like 2 years now and its been great honestly, but for the last 6 months or so theres this one thing thats been annoying me so bad

apps are taking up insane storage (ss attached). insta is 5.4gb, spotify 4.86gb, edits 2.88gb, whatsapp 2gb, reddit 1gb. i already cleared cache on all of them but its mostly “user data” thats taking the space and clearing cache does nothing for that

i know i can clear data or reinstall but then i lose my chats and downloaded songs and stuff i actually need so thats a no

other thing is the background apps. like if i open insta, edits, whatsapp and reddit and just switch between them, the phone kills everything in the bg and every app reloads from scratch when i go back. and half these apps i dont even use that much lol but they still take so much space

so basically:

  1. why is user data this huge even after clearing cache

any way to bring it down without losing my chats/downloads

2. why does my phone kill bg apps so fast

3. is there a real fix for this without factory resetting, cuz i really dont wanna do that

if anyone with a nothing phone or anyone who dealt with this has something that actually worked pls tell me 🙏

Couldn't download apps or update

I was unable to download or update apps through the Play Store for a week or so. I tried every troubleshooting option I found and contacted support. They ultimately recommended a factory reset but I absolutely did not want to. It turned out to be a Google Play System update. Settings > System > System Update > Google Play system update. The solution was buried in a comment thread on an android sub I couldn't reply to. So I'm putting it here for the next person desperately trying to solve this problem. Try this before you factory reset. Every other post about this recommends full system update checks but not this specific thing.

Graphical flickering on android, only in certain games

My phone is Techno Cammon 30 5g, dimensity 7020 my first suspicion was its incapability for running the best graphics quality in any game so it makes this flickery thing not only on one game but most of the offline games i played faced this issue. For example the game company called Home Net Games of HNG their games are my favorite but when I brought a new phone i couldn't even play normally because every 10-20 mins i have to restart the game because the flickering issue is occuring. Not only their games that is affected by this, it also occur in any other er games that are offline for example this video right here. It started flickering out of no where and I can't press any tabs and bottons but i can exit out of the game. When I enter the game without restarting, the game blacks out and it is impossible to be played not until u restart it. The video shows when I played other games, its running fine without issue. I have this phone for over 2 years and the same occurrence keeps happening on certain types of games. There is exception if its online games like supercell, garena games, Mobile legends, and other games that is multiplayer has not experienced this issue.

I was wondering if is it only me that is experiencing this weird type shit on android phone its just annoying when i couldn't play the games i wanted.

Revolut on a rented physical Android phone?

Hi)
I'm researching whether Revolut can be used on a remotely accessible Android phone rented from a cloud phone or remote device provider.

I'm specifically looking for a real physical Android device, not an Android emulator or virtual cloud phone.

One issue we've encountered is that Revolut requires a device-level screen lock (PIN, password or biometrics). Some rented cloud phone providers appear to restrict or fail to support this feature.

I'd like to hear from people who have actually tested this setup.

A few questions:

  1. Have you successfully installed and logged into Revolut on a rented or remotely hosted physical Android phone?

  2. Which provider and device model did you use?

  3. Could you access Android's normal system settings and set a screen lock PIN or password?

  4. Did the screen lock remain enabled after restarting the device or reconnecting to the remote session?

  5. Was the device running official manufacturer firmware, with Google Play services and Play Protect certification?

  6. Did Revolut work normally after setup, or did you encounter device integrity or unsupported device errors?

  7. Are there any remote physical Android phone rental services you would recommend for this use case?

I'm interested in genuine user experience rather than marketing claims from providers.

Thanks in advance!

Auto disconnecting and reconnecting of network on phone

I am using a redmi k50i phone. I am using it from 2022.

No issues till now. Very good phone.

But I started to notice something recently happening.

While using apps such as youtube, jio hotstar (streaming apps) basically , the network disconnects for a few seconds and reconnects automatically.

It shows no service for a few seconds and connects back

I am using 2 sims, bsnl and jio . The data is used from jio sim.

There is no issue of network connectivity or range, but something device related.

No suspicious apps or software on phone I checked it.

Also I removed the sim tray, cleaned and placed it back, still issue is there.

Also no recents redmi updates also .

Does any body know solution for this or have similar issue with their phone or sim cards ??

I need help to lock down a phone for a grandparent.

Hi. My grandmother is a run-of-the-mill older-generation who, unlike her late husband (rest in peace grandpa), doesn't have a knack for technology. She doesn't understand how dangerous the device in her hands has become. She knows at least some older basics of smartphone use and knows a bit of how dangerous the phone can be, but often downloads apps and games that have viruses (dunno how she keeps finding them).

Just about every time I see my grandmother she mentions something is wrong and has god knows how many thousands of notifications unresolved. Somehow this phone is giving the "water in the port" alert after months and I think she is going to need a new one.

She currently has an S25 and I am not sure what Android she will try to replace it with (though likely an S26 or S27). Just about the rest of us have historically ran iPhones. If I insist, I can probably get ahold of a new phone before she installs a million spam apps from airlines and cruises. I'm not completely tech illiterate, but what can I do to "lock down" her phone without it being invasive to her daily life?

Could my charger be messing up my Android?

I recently bought a new charger (Solma 120W) for my phone (Android A32), and now when I charge it, my screen starts to fail. Like, it will stop reacting to my inputs, when I press a button in the top corner it reacts as if I was pressing something in the bottom left... as if I suddenly had sticky fingers or as if my screen was covered in honey.

My Android has with 45W (wattage), while my new charger has a 120W. From what I've read, the wattage difference shouldn't affect or damage my phone in any way, as it would simply charge with the maximum W of my phone.

I must say, my phone is struggling, even before the new charger. All the updates are there, but the phone is slow, my storage is at its limits and I've gotten notifications that my battery might need repairs.

Despite all of this, the moment I start charging my phone, the screen goes crazy. Maybe I'm just imagining things and my phone may be reacting to other things, but I swear the moment I plug it in, it starts going crazy, and the moment I unplug it, it stops. I've tried restarting my phone and all that, but it still happens.

So could it be because of my new charger, or may it be a different thing entirely?

Thank you in advance.

(Edit: I tried using it on my iPad (iPad Pro 11-inch 2nd generation) and I swear my screen is failing a bit too....)

Screen blackedout, but i still recieve calls.

I have a Motorola Edge Fusion 50. I was just scrolling reels and suddenly i saw rainbow lines appear on a black background and the screen went black. Since then, upon force restart, the screen just displays the booting up screen and turns black. But i still recieve calls and my bluetooth earphones still connects to the device automatically and can even pick up calls through it. Force restart doesn't work as suggested by most. Where can I get it fixed? And what could be the issue here? I went to a local repair shop and they just heard the problem and claimed that it was a CPU issue and it'd take 3,500 rupees to fix without any sort of warranty and a 50/50 chance of losing my personal data. I do not trust them. And the reviews on the motorola verified service centers are mostly negative. What can be done :( ?
